- Buddha -

Sandy: Can we surpass emptyness? Enlightenment is a negative process, the removal of our desires. Nirvana cannot be surpasses, just as absolute zero cannot be surpassed. Once there is nothing, you can remove something. Perhaps Jesus just went in a different dirrection and discovered something else entirely.

Beautifully said. Thank you. It is such a joy to see the Buddha quoted so perfectly. Yes, of course, we should extinguish our need for hate. I honor the Buddha-nature in you for asking this so publicly and I hope others will udnerstand the reason you did so. If we feel at peace, we are peace. We become peace. We can create peace.

Yes this is real wisdom from the Buddha, those individuals who are on the spiritual path must rise above these negative coverings of pure consciousness, along with lust and greed, hatred/anger leads to a hellish condition of life for the embodied soul.
Bhagavad Gita Chapter 16 Verse 21
There are three gates leading to a hellish condition of life, lust, anger and greed. Every sane man should give these up, for they lead to the degradation of the soul.
Purport by HDG A C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
The beginning of demoniac life is described herein. One tries to satisfy his lust, and when he cannot, anger and greed arise. A sane man who does not want to glide down to the species of demoniac life must try to give up these three enemies, which can kill the self to such an extent that there will be no possibility of liberation from this material entanglement

No I don't agree.
I certainly think that someone who is hateful and seeks their own happiness by inflicting pain on others is evil but I don't agree that they can never be delivered. Jesus can deliver anyone.
I think most people have been selfish or done wrong at some point or another in their lives and thank God that this statement is not true becase we can be delievered from hatred and rise above it.

Buddism is cool...however, Darwinism governs the real world. Open minded people in Democratic countries are the only people who have the luxury to consider and adopt such views....while the Islamic predator, keeps such views out, and thus, makes the entire concept nothing but "meat tenderiser" for the coming slaughter.

We Buddhists understand that without inner peace outer peace is impossible.
We all wish for world peace, but world peace will never be achieved unless people first establish peace within their own minds.
Only by creating peace within our own mind and helping others to do the same can we hope to achieve peace in this world.
hope that helps

Before being able to rise above it, we have to admit that we are it.
There is one who transcended hatred and conquered sin, and it is only in his name that we may reach God.
Buddha reached something, but Buddha went about as far as a man is able to go. Christ went farther--because he was God. WIth Christ's power, we can all go farther than Buddha.

Yes. To recognize hatred and anger in ourselves and then to eradicate it is the beginning of freedom and happiness.

"Passionate hatred can bring meaning and purpose to an empty life" - Eric Hoffer.
We need to give people something else to make their lives full (and fulfilling).
