Recognize all the ways that you are not loving continually. Eventually, you will in many years have a grasp of it easily which will automatically make you become more loving. Then when you recognize those unloving ways in others, you won't be so quick to judge because you will remember that you were like that also. To be more spiritual, closer to God, is to become the loving human being you already are underneath the unloving ways.

Read books on spirituality. There are a ton out there and they will help you not only become more spiritual but educate you more. Its more interesting than you think, try it!

All spiritual connection begins with a look inward to find you connection with things beyond you. meditation/prayer in a posture of freeing you mind of you day to day life and existence opend you up to hear/see/feel that which transcends your existence.
I am Christian and until I stopped looking for external answers to internal questions it was just a ritual. It was within me that I met and truly understood Christ's worldly and eternal existence.
It is very personal and although there are similarities between individual experiences (where religions and sects are formed) it is untimately a unique relationship between you and the God of your understanding.

Read books on the topic, meditate a lot, listen to your heart, you wll open more and more as you do all of those! It takes dicipline to tame the ego, cause that is what is blocking anyone to connect to the divine source.If you are sincere in your efforts your results will be too!
