My family is searching for a dog and we do not want to buy one from those terrible stores at the mall because I have heard some horrific stories about how they are treated. So I have been looking for shelters and rescue groups and breeders around my town.

Long story short, I saw this webstie and I want a second opinion about whether or not anyone thinks the site is a valid, clean, safe place or if it looks a little fishy.
Here's the url www.worldwidepups.com
Thanks!

The difference between a responsible breeder and a petstore/backyard breeder is
a) knowledge of breed and genetics- and the desire to produce pups that are sound of conformation and temperament.
b) The responsibility to socialize the pups to ensure that they are well equipped to handle a new home.
c) And this one is key- the desire to match their puppies to a responsible home.

A petstore/mill/website does not care who gets the puppy as long as they have the cash. A responsible breeder would never sell to such a site because they will be wondering who on earth is raising their puppy. Now, you sound like a good owner, a responsible person which makes it all the more important that you support either a legitimate, responsible breeder or an animal shelter where millions of pups land up because of irresponsible owners.

To locate a responsible breeder, the best resource is the breeder page on the AKC website. They also list breed clubs which will help you contact breeders who truly care for the breed. Petfinder.com is an excellent resource for you if you are willing to open your heart and home to a rescue pet. Just list your zip code and they will show you rescue pets in your area.

So, please, since you sound like a person who had values, and integrity, do not consider this or similar websites that will ship a puppy (purebred/otherwise or even of champion bloodlines) to you because they obviously are nothing better than a mill.

My first impression would be run the other way,, it looks to just be an "on line" pet store, same as the ones you don't like in the Malls.

No matter where you live there will be good dog breeders, it simply doesn't make sense to buy a puppy any place else except if you want a rescue dog.
If you can not find a rescue that you like, pick a breed that you think would work for you and then look for their "parent club" on the net (will be something like "National Beagle Club", "Labrador club of America", etc, etc) and most will then have a link to breeders that are members of the club. This assures that the breeder follows certain guidelines.

This looks like a puppy mill. good breeders don't have that many breeds of dogs. also they refer to yorkies as teacup yorkies, which means they expect their buyers to be ignorant of the fact taht yorkies are tinsy little dogs naturally. rescues are good, but often those dogs are behavioral problems. I would suggest http://www.nextdaypets.com. they list breeders that only raise one breed of dog, and have tips on finding a good breeder. sometimes the breeders will accompany their pets on an airplane, or they'll invite you to inspect their homes, and the other puppies. depending on where you live, and where they live. a good breeder will give you a long term health guarentee and want nothing but the dogs happiness. they'll also give the dogs at least 2 rounds of his shots, and the dog should have already started some potty training.

Good luck on your new dog! make sure you read lots of books on house breaking, dog training and other problems associated with the responsiblity of owning a dog! make sure you select a breed that fits your families activity level.

In one word...NO. This place has far too many breeds to be safe. You are not able to see where they've come from, their parents, or their surroundings. This is typical of any pet store and, in my opinion, the worst place to get a dog.

If you are looking for a specific breed, there are many places to try. Among other things such as shelters, petfinder.com, and rescues, your vet may be able to refer to a good breeder.

Is it a pet shop or is it raised up from breeders? It is better to get a dog from breeders than pets shops. Dogs from breeders are more healthy and unlike pet shops they are not in the cage all the time.

its a glorified pet shop..No I would look for an individual breeder with a good reputation and go from there..

This is NOT a breeder they do not breed these dogs, they BUY them and resell them....

No way can someone breed 20 different breeds, run a grooming shop and a boarding kennel.. NO WAY

PLUS, breeders do NOT finance puppies, only pet stores do that..

i'm no longer confident of a strong information superhighway web site, specially because maximum internet web pages at the prompt are not very certain, yet once you've a PetSmart save you could opt to ask them which days are their adoption days. I followed a cat from my petsmart and the worker change into waiting to inform me the cats birthday, how nicely he did with canines, and different significant stuff like that. strong success

aww....those dogs are cute if you live near that place then I think it would be an ok place. Or you can check your local paper in the classifides and probably find one that already has some of its shots and stuff already done for you. Or if you live near a petsmart that's a good place to adopt a pet.

is it close to your town? If so, go visit! :D I just got a puppy after a year of looking, and finally found my perfect puppy in the newspaper! We never even thought to look there until the day we got her!

I think that seems like a good place. It would be a great idea to adopt from animal humane or a rescue group so you are saving a life...that is my opinion.

Most of my animals found me, so I adopted them after doing a little research to make sure they were homeless.
