I tried switching banks and could not open a new account. It said to contact Telecheck---the bank officer said it would probably be OK when I cleared it up.
I probably wrote a bad check in my wayward youth and forgot. I wrote them a letter to see whats on the account. The bank was Washingtion Mutual. Has this happened to anyone before?

Yes, and believe me confused and concerned is what I was. Best thing to do is to contact Washington Mutual. Find out their side of the story, Telecheck should have given you all that info. If it was a bad check, just pay it. Or if it has been cleared up for some time, have Washington Mutual call the bank you are trying to open a new account with and have them resolve the issue for you.
