even though you are NOT engaged or married?

Like let's say you wear your grandma's beautiful diamond engagement ring because you love it and the memories it brings even though you are single.

Sure. I wear my aunts ring, but on my right finger. If you wear it on your left finger, assumptions might be made that you are taken, and you may miss out on a really good guy. Some guys don't care about that stuff, but just incase you meet one that does, I would wear it on the right hand.
The only time I wore it on my left hand is when I worked in a bar... to each her/his own, but I didn't feel like getting hit on after last call.....

A friend of mine gave me her old engagement ring long time ago. Weird huh? but anyways, It is beautiful, I think so I wore it to help keep the guys not interested.

However, what little that did. It is really sad to know how many scum bags there are out there who still why try to get with a girl who wears a ring. I believe they see it as a "challenge" I suppose.

i dont wear either, I wear a ring my grandma (who already passed away) gave me when I was 5 yrs old, I had it made bigger so I can continue wearing it. I wear it on my ring finger, & ive had a couple of people (both women & men) ask me if its a wedding ring. Its not a wedding or engagement ring.

I say yes wear the ring. My grandmother passed away 3years ago and my sister wears that wedding ring all the time because it was not only my grandmothers ring but it was passed down from my great grandmother . It has allot of sentimental value. When ever I see it on her finger it brings back great memories of my grandma and great grandma. She was the first granddaughter and fist grandchild and that it why she has the ring. I have earrings from my grandma and they too belonged to my great grandma. they are very special to me. I wear them when ever I go out someplace fancy or just to family occasion. wear it in memory of your grandmother. that's what I would do

When I was single, in college and working as a bar tender I wore my great-grandmothers wedding set.... It sure cut down on the number of lame, vulgar and stupid pick-up lines I had to endure each night... It might also have saved a few drunk idiots lives...

How many times must a girl hear "Hey Baby, I got a long neck you can nurse." or "I will be your hot dog, if you'll be my bun." before she is allowed to break a beer bottle on the bar and stab the jagged edge through the idiots heart....

I wore a promise ring before I was engaged...it was a simple silver band, it looked like a wedding band...but it had a special meaning to me and I wore it on my ring finger.

But if you are single and you don't want to keep potential love interest away I wouldn't wear it on my left hand.

I did when I was on holiday because I was in a country where the guys are so sleazy and they prey on tourists. They would walk up to you on the beach and try and get you to date them, of course they were just after sex or money. So I took to wearing a ring so that I could just say I was married.

That's really nice that you got something from your grandma that you can wear and be reminded of her on a daily basis. Definetly wear it, if you don't want people to think it's from a significant other wear it on your right hand, or even put it on a chain and wear it as a necklace.

Wear an heorloom ring that means something special to you on your right hand if you don't want to send a message that you aren't available.

Actually, yes.

I wore a yellow saphhire that my grandfather had made for my grandmother, for years, on my left hand. Not to "fool" anyone, but because I'm right handed, and rough on rings on my right hand.

My daughter wore her grandfather's wedding band for several years after he died. It kept him close to her until she healed enough to put it away as a keepsake.

I don't see anything wrong with it.
