Hi there;

Well, I think is more of a Windows driver problem. Anyway, if u have used Norton and Spysweep and they don't seem 2 fix the problem, then u may have to fix Windows itself.

By that I mean, that u may have to use ur Windows CD, depending on which Windows version u have to redo Windows. In other words, I think that maybe one of the Windows drivers or possibly a software thats misbehaving somewhere might be causing all that.

And for u to fix Windows in order to fix the lagging and the freezing, and if u have ur Windows CD, the CD that you used to install Windows with, u have to start over.

Meaning that u have to turn off ur computer, ok, let it cool for a couple of minutes at least, then turn it back on and immediately try to insert ur Windows CD into the CD drive and let the computer restart.

Is going to ask if u want to repair Windows or something similar, depending on ur windows version u may have to follow the instructions and because every Windows is not created equal I couldn't pinpoint exactly what to do. But I believe is something like this:

When u insert ur CD, it probably ask u if u like to fix Windows, select Yes, then it will start copying probably the missing files or something, then when finished u may have to restart the computer for the changes to work. But if u need more help with that, see if u have the manual that came with Windows or do a Google search how to fix your Windows version.

I do appologize that I can't give u an exact answer because I don't do computer repair anymore.

I hope u can fix ur Windows.

Bye4now!

I personally do not like/use norton. And Spysweep, though with high reviews, I dont use anymore from a recent problem. I deleted it in 4 places, but yet it still comes on and wants access to the internet.

Now, do you have a firewall on, besides windows?
I assume you have norton firewall, but I could be incorrect.
If you have none, I use zonealarm, which can be download from their website or download.com.

Try these programs also.

"Spybot SEARCH and Destroy". There is a rogue version called seek and destroy, its a complete copy, but it always things in.

"Ad-Aware"

"Crap Cleaner, or CCleaner"

"Yahoo Anti Spy" Not the best, but it works.

It may also be a couple of other things, like, too many files, maybe some are corrupt.

If you know what your doing, use something like,

"Ace Utilities"

"Registry Cleaner"

If you dont, you can mess things up worse.

Aslo, try defragging, scandisk, and diskcleaner. Disk Cleaner and Defrag are under system tools, in the accessories menu, in the start menu. Scandisk, you have to right click on c drive, or whatever drive is main, hit properties. Then, go to tools, and hit scandisk. It says error checking.

Hope this helps.

Type - all together - ctrl+alt+delete. Then click on processes. All those processes are running. To find out what many of them are, try this website.

http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm

Then, one by one, delete all the ones you don't want.
