This is an embarrassing question, but I have really bad constipation a lot of the time. My parents have been telling me for years to eat right, but I didn't listen because I didn't like healthy foods and it didn't really bother me, but as I've gotten older it's gradually gotten more and more painful. What should I do? My mom is willing to get me medicine for it. We already got Phillips stool softeners but they don't work much. It really hurts and I don't think I can handle it anymore, so I'm willing to do whatever I have to to make it stop. Please don't make fun of me, I know this is a question lots of people would love to make fun of, but I'm hoping a nice nurse or someone will answer. Thank you for your time and for helping me.

First go to a doctor if it as bad as you say. They will adive you on any futher action.
However the proper diet is usually key to solve constipation problems. To help my constipation I usually eat the following foods to help me. Of course not all of them in one sitting - wholemeal bread covered in honey or jam, weetabix, fruit - apples are especially good, hard boiled eggs.
Also natural remedies such as Senna will help too. You can get them in tablet form from most shops.
I hope that helps. I hope it gets better soon.

I would suggest trying to stay away from dairy for a while and see if that helps you out. Eat foods higher in fiber and drink more water. Stay away from carbonated drinks and caffiene if possible. If it doesn't get better, I would suggest a trip to the gastroenterologist for a checkup. You may have a prolapse in your intestine and that will keep it from moving through and will cause a great deal of pain. Straining can cause diverticulosis and if that gets infected you'll really hurt from the diverticulitis. Colon health does not get enough press time and it's one of the things that can kill you pretty quick. You don't have to live with it and over the counter remedies are not a long term solution.

At one point I cut cheese out of my diet and that helped a lot. Another thing to try is when you eat something greasy like pizza or fast food take a tums after you eat. It helps settle the grease in your stomach and helps with your gas and bowel movement the next day. Tums came out with "smoothies" tablets and they're actually kind of good. I carry some in my purse all the time.

ok, if all that got here approximately is what you mentioned it did, i do no longer think of you "could" be pregnant. being pregnant happens while a sperm fertilizes an egg (equivalent to a penetration or a guy made insemination etc..) as long as "his ingredient" did no longer penetrate interior you and he got here, i do no longer think of there is any incorrect way his sperm cells could even get on the fringe of your ovaries/eggs. this would not propose you're off the hook. do no longer get exhilaration from those style of issues or escapades while you're actually not even particular what you're entering into. that isn't cool. and don't permit some "random" guy could rub you. you do no longer additionally be responsive to if his palms have been sparkling. i would be fearful of an infection, yikes! A try isn't a bad theory to grant you some extra peace of strategies.

it's okay, it will take time though to get 'regular'... begin taking medicumil (sp?) or benefiber or something like that in regular doses, and start drinking more liquids like water.. eat more veggies and fruits (apples with skin!) and bran cereals. don't overload but do change your diet. it will take time but eventually you will be able ot start getting off the fiber supplements and just eat a healthy diet (dont' worry some junk food is fine!) and make sure you go everyday.

See a doctor and the right laxative for you.
Is it just constipation, or do you get diarrhea too? If you do, I recommend getting checked for irritable bowel syndrome.
Make sure you drink lots of water and include fibre in your diet, try a bowl of bran flakes for breakfast- this helped me a lot.

you need more fiber! try putting some benefiber in your cereal or yogurt or something. It should help soften you up. try to stay away from things like bananas as they will harden your feces. you should see a doctor as well because the longer yoru feces sits in your colon the more likely you are to someday have colon cancer as well as to reabsorbe the toxins. this could be a serious problem get HELP!

try eating more fiber. Also, start drinking prune juice ASAP. Just start by drinking 2 8oz glasses a day until your bowel movement has normalized.
