If you like "the darkroom stuff" you should go for a 35mm camera. Now ... here is a "secret" ... today everyone goes for a digital camera and usualy because they don't want "the darkroom stuff". They end with a digital camera around 400 USD which deliver a not bad photos. For this price you can have a 5 or 6 Megapixels which are enough for any photo up to 8x10" paper size ...quality...average ...not a bad deal. Here comes "the secret". For same ammount of money you can have a Canon SLR 35 mm camera with all automatic and manual controls (aperture, shutter speed, exposure time, up to 6 frames per second, able to take optical filter such as circular polarizer or neutral density) and will deliver allways the best photo quality and allways at a highest resolution just because is using 35 mm film. Also from the same 35 mm film you can print any size you want with astonishing quality.

If you have no money ...look around for a local photo club. They can help you !!

I agree with EiaMarie try a pawn shop or hell even yard/garage sales. You can sometimes find the coolest and nicest cameras there for cheap.

Ask some family for extra cash or get job (if you already have one) work more hours.

I enjoy being behind the camera as well, and I know thats its really expensive to buy one or have a dark room.

If anything save up and get a combo type of deal. A camera/video camera type of thing. Thats worth a try

You don't need a really good camera to start. You can borrow a camera, like the other person said. Also join a camera club or video club.

Being a camera person is awesome. My old friend is one of them. Now she's on her way to being a papparrazzi. Yes, it took her time. But what she worked really hard. She begged her parents, but they didn't listen. They didn't like the idea because they think that she just going to abandon it and al that shyte. But they were wrong. There is some cheap camera but it's not worth it. It's better if you ask your parents one simple thing. "Atleast let me try, I promise It'll be all worth it." Just ask. And also, TRY ! =]

What grade are you in? If he's a huge flirt and likes alot of girls then i imagine you're placing your self up for a heartbreak. I have little doubt that you're a million of the females yet i imagine that for now you should merely proceed to be his pal till he matures more advantageous. solid luck.
