It took me a long time to locate this . I know that Eve was created from Adam's ribs but I wasn't sure which side. So this proves that there is a religious connotation why woman stands on man's left side symbolizing the side from which Eve was created.

oh my! this whole answer is so misguided. Yes duh women were a piece of adam. But let me through a loophole in this whole thing. A man stands to the left of a woman to protect her, and a woman stands to the right to support a man. There are a few items in the Greek Bibliography and Catholic bibles to support this. Hence When marriages are performed the woman stands to the right in sickness and health and a man stands to the left for richer or poorer. Either way now days we all go to bed the same and wake up to either a person we can't stand or a person we love. It has nothing to do with why anymore it only has to do with circumstances. Where are you comfortable. As creatures of habit most women stand and sleep on the mans right. Those women are considerate, compassionate, caring, and nurturers. The women on the Left tend to be strong, domineering, and aggressive in nature.

I don't know for sure, but I'd guess it has something to do with most men being right-handed. Warriors would wear their swords on their left sides so they could draw with the right hand. This is why one mounts a horse on its "near" (i.e., left) side. The woman stands to the man's left, where he can protect her.
I'm not justifying this, just guessing at the origin of the tradition, which isn't much followed anymore. I don't think it has anything to do with God taking a rib from Adam's left side in the Biblical myth, but that's also a possibility.
When my wife and I walk together, I usually make a point of walking on the street side, nearest to traffic. It's the way I was brought up and doesn't signify superiority or inferiority in my mind. It's just a courtesy.

The significance of woman standing left of man is based on cultural and traditional practices from our parents. Woman usually stands to the left of a man because the man right arm need to be free to either unsheathe his sword at any moment of defend his wife from suitors or even kidnappers.
In addition, not all women stand left of a man. Other women stand right based on their cultural and religious traditions. For example, the Jewish tradition, brides stand to the right of their grooms to honor their religious beliefs

Originally, it became a custom to protect women from being splashed by mud on the streets when carts or carriages were passing. A gentleman always stood so he would take the splash. Later, it evolved some local cultural and religious associations, but the first records showing this behavior go back thousands of years to Mesopotamia.

Not sure about religion, but in general terms it's so that the man acts as her shield. If a car mounts the pavement for example the guy would be hit first etc. I suppose it has the same meaning in religous context, Adam's left rib and all that rubbish.

The husband is the leader of the house, the wife must be obedient to him, not like a child, but he has the last word in the marriage. This has been taken to the extremes by many stupid preachers because they don't finish the scripture that says that men are to honor their wives. But, that is why she was supposed to walk on his left side, there's no biblical basis for it, it's a religious law that is non sense. If she is on his right, it meant that she contends for the leadership of the house/family.

I guess it has its roots in old life style when man and women used to walk along the streets. Man had to protect woman from the pass of the cars and this is why they had to remain inside de side walk while guys in the sore.

Most people are right handed so it is only natural to stand to left to be able to grasp the other persons arm or hand with her right hand.
No spiritual meaning I know of.
