Need to ask , what is it that you want to accomplish?
If you are looking to compete in Obedience, or Rally, or some performance events, you can get what is called an "ILP" number for your unregistered dog if it somewhat resembles one of the recognized breeds. This will not allow you to compete in conformation shows, and the dog must be neutered.
The requirements for full AKC registration are stringent, and you would have a tough time with that even if both of your dogs parents are AKC registered, unless the owners of the mother obtained a "litter registration kit" from AKC.
The only thing that the AKC DNA test can prove is what dogs are the parents of your dog (they would need samples from each) the DNA test cannot determine what breed a dog is.

DNA testing doesn't get your dog registered with AKC..in order to be registered both parents would have had to have been and the litter you dog came from would have had to have been registered. Also the breeder would have had to have given you the registrationn paper to complete and send in.
If your dog is in fact purebred and you want to enter AKC events like Rally or Obedience, but you don't have her registration papers or she was never registered you can apply for an ILP number, however she would need to be spayed first and proof of spaying would need to be sent along with the application.
If your dog is already registered and you are trying to make sure of paternity or will be using her in a planned, reposnible breeding program then you can order a DNA test kit from AKC.

If your dog is not registered with AKC and you did not get the registration slip a DNA test will not get your dog registered.
Check out www.akc.org for more information on what AKC uses the DNA data base for and how and where to hvae atest done.

AKC does DNA profile for $40-45. But it will not prove breed, or weather it is purebred or not. If the dog has AKC papers, great. If not, no DNA test will get it AKC registration.

a dna test will not prove that she is a purebred. Both parents need to be akc regestered and you need the registration slip from the breeder.

LMAO!!!
You've been watching WAY too much "CSI"!!!
You CAN'T!!!!
A DNA profile will **ONLY** confirm or deny DIRECT parentage of dogs that are ALREADY on file!!!
AKC will ***NOT*** register ANY dog w/out COMPLETE & PROPER paperwork FROM THE BREEDER!!!
Btw...there's NO SUCH THING as "purebreed"! LOL
