Impacted anal glands are the most likely cause. The dog may also scoot it's rear end on the floor in an attempt to alleviate the pressure.. It usually occurs because a dog is lacking some fiber in it's diet and eating a soft food diet. A few tablespoons of Fiber One cereal sprinkled on your dog's food should help the problem. You may need to moisten it if fed with dry food. Sometimes if the glands are too full they need to be squeezed to express the fluid that is blocking them. Dog's can also develop an abscess at the site due to the swollen glands. Fiber One is a human cereal that is sold at most grocery stores. It has cured many of my friends who have hemorrhoids as well. Worms can also cause such a symptom, but if your dog is on heartworm medication the chances are more unlikely since the medication is also a anti parasitic drug. If you have concerns you can always drop a fecal specimen off at the vets without incurring a vet bill. If the problem persists you will just have to get those glands emptied out by a vet. Fiber one takes about 5 days to work and dogs usually like the taste. Good Luck

Ask your vet to ckeck her anal glads. They might need to be expressed if you don't get it checked she can get sick from licking up all that bacteria. It's fairly simple just smelly so if you don't want to have to take her to the vet everytime she needs it done, ask your vet to show you how and then you can do it. Warning: It smells really bad though.

It sounds sick, and I just heard of this the other day myself, but you might need to 'express' her anal glands. Basically, there's a secretion that can build up in house pets and needs to be pushed out by a vet, groomer, or you.

If she has never been to the groomer then her anus probobly has never been squeezed. You should take her to the vet and they can squeez it for you, or you could take her to get groomed but specify what you want done.

Most likely she has worms. Most pupies do. Sometimes the vet cant see the worms during testing. So just deworm her.
