You will need to see a Dr he may be developmental delayed and that is why he is not doing well academically. you should also see a physiotherapist (or a physical therapist) I think its called in the states no this is not normal. But upon me saying this developmental delayed is a broad term really it could be any thing from been a little slow to been bad. If your son was bad it would have been picked up by this. My son's were moderately delayed. One has now got his High school certificate year 12 and is now studying I.T the other one is still in year 12 and has a certificate in retail. The other one is still in preschool but they are all moderately delay. The soon you get it cheeked out the better for her. Good luck

My daughter does this (still at 14) not all the time, but most the time. She's a girl and some chunky heels fixed that, but I guess you can't do that for a boy. lol
Anyway, we never worried about it until we took her to a neurologist for other reasons and he said that her achilles (sp?) tendon was short b/c of the walking on her toes. So i would say, yes, go see a podiatrist and see what they can do if anything, before the problem gets worse. Because it can lead to problems. Not saying that it will, but better to know early than too late.
Does he still walk on his toes in shoes? Shoes fixes the problem for my daughter (sneakers). So we do have her wearing shoes more often than before now. It's when she's barefoot that she goes to her toes.
And fyi my daughter has learning disabilties. I dont' know if there's a connection.

I had a cousin who also walked on his tip toes when he was about 7-8 years old. He just out grew it. I don't think it's something you need to worry about. But if you are extremely concern I suggest you take him to a doctor. Good luck.

I knew a girl that did thatas a child, I dont know if theres a connectioin but she told me that she had ADD as a child. But as far as the tippy toes thing, this girl had HUGE calf muscles, like Ive never seen, and since your son is a boy, thats a good thing, he will have these super strong legs, as far as I know, this girl I knew suffered no consequences from having walked on her toes

As in, he walks on his tippy toes ONLY? As in he CANT walk flatfooted or he simply prefers to be on his tippy toes, kind of light a habit?
If he CANT walk flatfooted even if he tries, then yes, he needs to see a specialist asap!!!
If its because it hurts to walk flat footed then he needs to see a Dr soon.
If, however, he is doing it simply because he thinks its fun, or its kind of a habit, then I would think its kind of like kids only eating peanutbutter sandwiches when they are that age. Its something they will grow out of eventually.
However, I think I might have my child assessed by a Pediatrician at least, to make sure there is nothing else going on.
Good luck and Goddess Bless!

I'd get his feet checked by a doctor, but other than that, walking on tip toes shouldnt be anything to worry about.

My sister is 29 and has always walked her tip toes. She does have large calf muscles but that is it. She tried not doing it for a while but that didn't work real well.

I read where it was an indication of something if they could not walk flat footed at all. My cousins daughter walked on her tip toes - no shoes when ever she could - grew up just fine.
