As someone that grew up with Cystic Fibrosis I've learned to have a good sense of humor about medical types of jokes. While I'm sure some people will be very offended by your question, from my perspective it was rather humorous. I hope you're using your sense of humor in a "healthy" manner rather than just for shock value.
P.S. Prior to my lung transplant when I would have coughing fits in a crowded place it was common for my husband to ask, "Honey, did the doctor confirm yet whether you're contagious?" The obvious result was people scattering - quite amusing.
