As a Registered Nurse, I personally come accross a lot of patients with bladder infections. Some causes: holding your urine for long hours. AKA stagnant urine. Also not cleaning yourself properly. Wiping yourself FRONT TO BACK is best. BEST THING Over the counter increasing your fluids that you drink and CRANBERRY JUICE I've got some now that I drink. Also go to the bathroom frequently. For pain killers ibuprophen helps the best with inflammation and take ALL of the antibiotics that they prescribe for you.

Hi!
Bladder infections are caused by bacteria reaching your bladder through your uretra. Since you are a woman, your uretra is shorter than that of a man and get infections more easily. Also, it's location, close to the anus makes it easier for bacteria to travel up the urinary tract into your bladder.
Lots of things can cause bladder infections or UTI: Most of the UTI are caused by E.Coli, for reasons mentionned above. It is a good idea to whipe from front to back when you go on the toilet, it prevents lots of bacteria to end up on the meatus (the opening of the urethra) and give you an infection.
Bad hygiene, not changing one's undergarment could be a cause too as well as pantyhose. The body's heat and the the fact that synthetic materials produce a closed environment helps bacteria to develop. It is a good idea to wear cotton undergarnments, and a must to change them everyday.
Being sexually active can also trigger UTI, it is recommended that a woman pass water after intercourse so the bacteria that may be in the urinary tract will be flushed out by the urine.
UTI can occur in men also, it is less common, because they have prostates that produce secretions retarding the growth of bateria, also their urethra is further away from their anus, and longer.
Well, that pretty much sums it up! Hope all goes well for you!
Drink cranberry juice, it will help you get rid of your bacteria by stimulating your immune system. Make sure it's real juice you're drinking!

There are a number of reasons that you can get a bladder infection. Anal Sex, not wiping after you go to the toilet properly and not drinking enough water. Make sure you go to the toilet after sex as this flushes the the bugs out, and make sure you wipe front to back. Use a nappy wipe if necessary. Drinking cranberry juice can help ease the symptoms and it can prevent you from getting it as well. Also there is this great stuff called Ural that you get at the pharmacy, it is not very pleasant tasting but will ease the symptoms and can sometimes even stop the infection all together.

Build up of uric acid in the bladder which is normally produced when your body has difficulty digesting proteins. Cranberry juice and lots of water will help flush your system and break down the acids. I you'd like help digesting proteins and breaking down uric acid, I'd recommend an all natural mineral supplement that I'm taking. I am taking a slightly different one that cures depression, but there is also one available to bring down your inflammation and clear the infection. The supplements are inexpensive, easy to take and have no negative side effects.
email me for more info, Id love to help!

Infection - "Invasion by and multiplication of pathogenic microorganisms in a bodily part or tissue, which may produce subsequent tissue injury and progress to overt disease through a variety of cellular or toxic mechanisms"
Bascically, either bacteria or a virus has entered your bladder and is now reproducing and disrupting your body systems ( and using your cells as food)
I'm thinking its probably a bacterial infection, since your doctor gave you antibiotics.

Many things. If you hold it for too long, drinking too much soda and not enough water or cranberry juice. If you are sexually active, you should urinate after sex every time. Also, be sure to wipe front to back. Bacteria getting into the urethra is a major cause.

In women they are usually caused not wiping properly after having a bowel movement, taking bubble baths, or just not keeping your self clean. They can also come from something as simple as swimming in a public pool. The best way to prevent or minamize future infections, is to drink plenty of water, wipe your self properly.

They come from bacteria getting in there some way. Think about it, we wipe that area after weve gone to the bathroom, no matter what we've done in there..lol..its just an area where ppl are prone to getting them. I have had several, my mom has lived with them. Sometimes theres a germ on the toilet paper. You just dont know where it comes from.

i got them all the time in my 30's and it is from bacteria that gets into your bladder through the urethra. if you are sexually active, you need to get up and pee after having sex. the friction of sex pushes bacteria up the short canal through which you pee, and it can cause infection. peeing after sex flushes out the bacteria. if that is not the cause, drink cranberry juice every day and it will keep bacteria from growing in your bladder.
