That's too bad that you felt that you had to leave the job. Honestly, I don't think that it is just you who would take some time to learn and even have to write things down. Everybody has their own way of doing things. Besides, just because you have ADD should not be a reason for anyone to look down on you. If you feel that you have control over your ADD, and I am sure that you do, then you do not need medication. That is ENTIRELY up to you anyway - don't let an employer or co-worker try to tell you what you should or should not do.

You can be good at anything that you do - don't let the fact that you have ADD keep you from any line of work. I personally do not have ADD, but I do have friends and coworkers with ADD and, you know what? They do GREAT at what they do. They put their mind to the task and focus their attention on it completely and the end result is probably better than a job done by a person without ADD because of that focus. Always remember that "Attention Deficit Disorder" does not mean that you cannot focus ever for the rest of your life, it just means that you need special circumstances for you to be interested.

Try multiple jobs (not necessarily at once) and eventually you will find one that you like and are comfortable with. Like I said, do NOT let your employer or coworkers put you down! Don't be discouraged right away either - there is always an adjustment period for both you and your fellow employees. I mean, you will know whether or not the situation can be handled or if it is better for you to just leave the job, but don't be hasty in your decision, especially if you are doing a job that you think you are going to like.

Keep in mind too that not all people are mean and nasty like those at your previous job. Think of it this way - they didn't like you because they knew that you were better than them and they didn't like the idea of competition! :)

We ADDs function very well in work that changes - this desk job is killing me so I am doing this for a break! But the boss wouldn't like that. Try building inspector - meter reader - plumbing anything but sitting.

People with ADD are normal... it's not really a disadvantage. If you take your medication you can do whatever you want.

TSA screeners. There is always something new to see so you don't get stuck with same old same old that you can't concentrate on.
