Our patterdale is crossed with a Lakeland Terrier and is absolutely gorgeous. We bought her thinking she would grow & be a fairly large dog based on her parents but she is still tiny 2 years later - she looks like a puppy. She's got really curly hair, loves getting in anything dirty particularly mud, duck poop (at the park of course) and rolls in cat wee from the neighbours cat when in the garden. She is so outgoing and excitable. These dogs definitely need a lot of exercise and can be prone to nuisance barking. They eat everything and love getting into mischief. We love her because she's unique and whenever we walk her people always stop us and ask us what breed she is. Only consider getting one if you're going to be able to socialise it from being a puppy as they can be a little snappy otherwise. Make sure you can commit to lots of exerice and live with the mess they create. They also need professional training so you will need to take it to classes if you're not experienced in training dogs yourself. One thing I would say, when you start looking for a puppy, make you get in touch with the seller early as they often dock their tails which is a shame because they have lovely coarse tails! If you want anymore advice or have any further questions, do let me know as I'm sure I can help!

Yes, I have 2 patterdales. What can I help you with? Here is a website you can go to. Patterdales are very good dogs. Loving and adventurous both. Mine are very well behaved and they mingle good with other dogs.

We had one ! He was just called `Dog` he was a fantastic pet, alas, no more.
We had him as a rescue dog, some evil person or persons had used him for badger baiting and his face was quite badly scarred.
He was one of the best dogs we ever had and my childen adored him.
I am smiling now as I remember him skidding through the mud after the snow had melted in the `traingle `field outside the village.
He had great character and was entirely suited to family and country life.

Yes....AND???
****NOT*** "sweet wittle wap-doggies"!!!
WORKING terriers!!! **HARD**,often"mute",KILL dogs!!!
Can be VERY good at their JOB but CAN/WILL kill the neighbor's CATS!!! Or anything ELSE they can get to!
Need to be FIRMLY taught "field-manners"as they're NOT "pack-hunters".
