Good luck & I would look here first
http://www.faa.gov/education_research/
check the area under training, the job series will be 2152.
also contact this group, the Union for the Air Traffic Controllers.
http://www.natca.org/
It is a great job, I have been doing it for almost 22 years. I do not work at an airport, but what the FAA calls a Air Route Center Controller.
Right now there are some problems between the FAA & the Controllers Union, but every job has it's ups and downs.

I believe either Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) or Orange Coast College (OCC) has these programs. A friend of mine graduated from Mt. SAC and works for LA Center. I know they had it at one point, but i'm not sure if they still do.
Also try Utah Valley State, they have some sort of distance learning program through one of the schools around LA though i'm not sure which one

ok, right here is a few specific coaching. You did no longer say in case you have been going for ATC positions interior the US (FAA coaching) or someplace else (enable's assume ICAO coaching). i will provide you records on ICAO, because it losely applies to US besides. ICAO has ordinary language skillability stages utilising standardized finding out. point 6 equates to expert and evaluates written, spoken and study be conscious. The ICAO SARPS recommend periodic assessment at stages under point 6 skillability. many countries chosen a minimum requirement of point 4 or 5. it may desire to in no way depend for employment, yet you would be able to could desire to take the tests each and every so in many situations in the journey that your accessory reasons your attempt outcomes to bypass under point 6 skillability. i've got been with controllers in Korea, Japan, Pakistan, UAE, Iraq, Germany, Spain and Italy. None of them have English as a widespread language, yet all of them knew Aviation English to various tiers and all with interior sight accents. in the event that they have been evaluated to ICAO skillability stages, then they have been sturdy to bypass, all with accents, so do no longer sweat it. purely examine out the data in Annex a million of the ICAO SARPS, and the internet web site under can help too. sturdy success.

If you want to work at places like you mentioned, your only employer would be the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. They do not require any training, as they provide it all. You are tested on various skills when you apply for the job. I would check www.faa.gov and see if you can find stuff on employment. Good luck.
