Given the fact that I have no argument with any organised religion, should I just detonate my explosive belt in a field, alone.
I really don't want to hurt anyone.
That's not nice.
I'd like the World to know we have a voice too though.
We seem to have been forgotten.

That's really nice, Tatsbabe. I so agree with you.

I have to admit Mr sceptic, you have a good point. How about a dodgy detonator?

You need to think of the headlines. For what you're suggesting, you'd get a small mention in the local paper saying "Nutter tops himself in field", together with a write-up about how much damage you caused to the crop and how farmers have enough on their plates without your sort.

To make it worth dying for your cause, you need to make a big publicity impact, so you'd need to do it in a cash dispenser queue, or in an expensive car showroom, or at some other heathen temple.

The trouble then is that you might hurt someone, which is entirely against atheistic calling, so it's a bit of a dilemma really.

What I'm saying, I suppose, is that this is a tricky one: you've made me think, and that's not why I spend time on Y!A.

Perhaps the best thing is, you write "*ss" without the asterisk, and so get yourself suspended from Y!A. That's probably the most noble sacrifice you could make, and I'm sure you'll have thousands of devotees calling for your beatification.

A few months ago I did a door to door market research survey for this woman, who (sorry to encourage stereotypes) was a middle aged Afro-Caribbean. We got to the personal details and it asked for religion, and I said atheist. She said "what's that?" (!) and I said "It means I don't believe in God". She looked at me in confusion and said "But haven't you heard of Jesus?" I was quite tempted to say "sure, tall guy, goatee and ponytail, goes bowling?" but I basically said yes, but I'm not convinced.

Because there was NO BOX for atheist, I had to pick "other" and then write it for her, because she didn't know how to spell it. Thn the next question was "practising or non-practising". After a bit of a debate I went for "practising". After all, it's not like I'm an atheist because I can't be bothered to think about it, I actively go out and engage in debates about it.

(there was another occasion where I spent 20 minutes on my doorstep in my dressing gown trying to convert Jehovah's Witnesses to Marxism but that's another story...)

Yes we do get forgotten and do you know why? It is because we atheists are the only group, religious or otherwise, who are tolerant enough to accept that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and religious beliefs! What does that tell you about the state of these religions? Nuff said, I think!!

You don't need to die to be a voice or have an opinion, that would just make you an extremeist too. Just exist and be and rise above all the madness. Your death would be a drop in the ocean of todays massive waves of hate. Don't waste it.

You atheists think you're hard done by? At least you know there is no God. What about us agnostics?

Yes...the world will notice if one lonely Atheist kills himself for his cause...wait what's your cause again? To prove there is no God right? Then yes, you committing suicide will surely convince everyone that all religion is bunk. Go forth.
