I didn't know at first. Actually, when I first met the guy I lost my virginity to, I knew I didn't want to lose it to him. A week later I stayed at his place, convinced that nothing would happen. But I melted like snow in the sun.
A little while ago I answered somedies question about my first experience of sex here on yahoo answers. Thought you might like to read it, so I pasted it in here for you. Here it comes...

My first time was wonderful. My boyfriend obviously wasn't a virgin, but he gave me ALL the time I needed to be ready for it.

We spent literally all night talking, kissing and couressing eachother. I think we stayed in bed for almost 24 hours. Or maybe it just felt that long. Anyway, we went to bed quite early and stayed up all night, just chatting. I kept all my clothes on. Slowly we started with a kiss and a touch. And then back to the conversation. We kept on chatting and exploring. Meanwhile his hands went further and further. And everytime I thought he was going too far, I said stop and he stopped. A few minutes later he would try again, etc.

He was persistant, but in a nice and respectful way. He tried his best to make me feel at ease and taught me how to enjoy it. We ended up having sex at 7 in the morning. It hurt a little bit, but by then I wanted it so badly that I didn't care.

The most important thing to prevent pain is not being afraid, I think. Just let it all happen! Take your time though, cause girls need to be aroused enough to open up. Guys who rush it can cause lost of pain to the girl.

My first time happened on the first night I ever slept at his place, which was just 2 weeks after having met him. I thought it would be too soon, but we ended up having a relationship of almost 4 years! And now we broke up, but are still good friends.

In case you're a virgin yourself and are wondering what it's gonna be like, I can recommend you not to worry about it. You will feel when the moment is there. The most important thing is to do it with somebody with whom you feel comfortable and who doesn't push you. Relax and enjoy. And like I said: don't rush it, as it might be one of your sweetest memories.

I knew who I wanted to lose my virginity because of the way he made me feel about myself. He made me feel like I was somebody spcecial, like I was needed. If that person gives you butterflies in your stomach and you feel like the world stops when you with that person then it is a good chance that , that person could be the one.

I knew it because I could answer the following questions: Would I trust this person with my life or the life of my child? Do I feel emotionally ready to have sex as an adult with no silly follow up regrets? Are we using protection and is this the right time and place? Am I comfortable in my spirit? If I can answer those questions, then I was ready for sex.

As a man it was not important as to who it was, it was important just to lose it.
