Our apartment is relatively spacious (one bedroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom), but we don't have a backyard. I work at home, though, which I think is good especially for a puppy.

ANY dog can live in a city apartment provided they get plenty of excercise.

People seem to have this notion that if you don't have a backyard, your dog isn't getting the excercise it needs and is somehow being neglected. If anything, dogs put out into the backyard to excercise are the ones being neglected because they're not really getting excercised---they've no one to play with---they're just getting an outdoor room to lay or walk around in.

That said, so long as you provide sufficient excercise, your dog will be very content. Samoyeds are arctic breeds and they have TONS of energy---so it's going to require a LOT of devotion on your part to see that he/she gets the needed excercise---but if you're committed, it can be done---you'll have a great companion and well behaved dog indoors.

As long as you make sure the dog gets enough exercise, an apartment is fine. A big backyard is a place most dogs just lay around all day waiting for mom & dad to come home. It's what you do WITH them that counts.

Samoyeds are high-maintenance. If you are willing and able to give him the exercise, grooming and attention he needs, the fact that you live in an apt shouldn't make a difference.

If you work at home, having a dog is a great idea because you have to take breaks for walkies!

Sure as long as you take it for long walks and make sure it gets enough exercise it will do fine.
