I'm wondering if there is any common ground between us and the Militant sector of Muslims, where we can learn to get along some day. I doubt there is, but i was just wondering.

A literal reading of the koran revals dozens of hateful suras (verses) calling for the murder and worse of polytheists, (e.g. Hindus), atheists, Christains, Jews, Buddhists and most other non-Muslims. These verses are nemerous and sprinkled throughout the Koran. Especially the ninth chapter. These verses exhort murder, arson, torture, massacre, and other barbaric deeds. Yes they were written in a specific historical contrext, and can be interpreted that way which many Muslims do. Other more fundamentalist Muslims take these verses literally, and universally. And they are prepared to make Jihad against all non Muslims. In other words, we should all convert to Islam or be prepared to die at their hand.
Muslims who try to interpret the verses in a non literal historical manner are denounced as apostates and many moderates have been killed.
So where are we. We are faced with millions of intolerant Muslims who cannot accept that hundreds of millions of other people do not wish to convert to Islam. Some Muslims are prepared too kill us for not converting and have done so in the past (read the history of India and discover that hundreds of millions of Hindus were slaughtered by Muslims. And recently the divers atrocities committed in the West. (Bali, Madrid, London, Beslan and on and on.)
It is my personal opinion that if we do not end our dependence on oil energy we are in for a World-wide battle of epic proportions.
I am very concerned about the huge influx of Muslims into The U.S.A. and Canada as of late. Yes almost all such immigrants are law abiding but only 19 Muslims perpetrated the 9/11 atrocities.
Every disaffected unemployed Muslim youth is a potential convert to Salifist (Wahabbi), extremism. And the Saudis are spending millions of dollars World-wide to foment trouble, hatred, extremism and in some minority of cases indiscriminate murder.
I am a little pessimistic about future relation between Islam and the rest of the World.
A recent archetyical Muslim reaction was the recent outrages about the Pope made when he quoted an ancient text, and made some scholarly comments which discussed Islamic extremism . Many Muslims took his words out of context. They rapidly descended to shrill extremist rhetoric, burned 7 churches in Palestine, killed a nun in Somalia (or Sudan), and threatened the Pope with death.
This is what we have to dealo with and we must never make light of what they say they act when they threaten death.

It is their religion and very little has changed, coming from someone who has been there, Ilam basicly means submit, to serve, and if you dont submit to Allah and serve Alla you are viewed as a threat, the muslims are not these kind and generous people, if you take a gift from tem wheather it is meant as a gift or not then they can demand something either same value or more value. They hate you because you are western and that is that

Sure we can get along!

The reason they are pissed is we have been stealing their resources for years! We are involved with the opium trade and money laundering by the CIA! We are also involved with the murders of many and the overthrow of heads of state, some who have been assassinated!

We are currently over in Iraq, where we never should have been, people are getting killed by the thousands, and the Iraqi prime minister wants to know why we are arresting Iraqi people and detaining them when there is a elected government in Iraq, and without their permission! We are only their because we have been invited, and can be thrown out at any time!

They are just brainwashed and brought up to feel the way they do. It's no different than a Christian fanatic that hates jews or blacks or something like that. The way a person is raised to think has a huge influence over how they will live their adult life, no matter what logic or fact you show them otherwise.

It's a combination of politics and religion. The US has historically done many things to anger the Middle East. Much of that was also probably spurred by religion. And these days, it seems the US and Middle East are really dividing over religious lines. I think that if religion wasn't involved, the possiblility for peace would be much more attainable.

They hate us so much because we favor Jewish people in their region and the fact that we are rich and business minded and very capitalist society. Since we are rich as a country they expect us to help them with their agenda.
