My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

Hi there
You are perhaps doing the exercises incorrectly or doing too many. It's hard to give you a precise answer without knowing your age, height & weight. Lower abs can start to stick out if you overdevelop them by doing too many or you aren't pulling your stomach in hard enough when you do sit-ups. Remember to breathe out as you lift the shoulders off the floor & breathe in on the way down. Another thing to try is 'The Bridge' to strenghten your T.A. (transverse abdominus) muscle that lies across that part of your stomach. Make a bridge with your body by balancing your weight on your elbows, forearms & toes, that is, lifting your butt off the floor & holding your weight up for about 30 seconds. Do this 4 times every second day & you shoud see a result in about 3 weeks. Good Luck.
P.S. Here's a good link for some more stomach workouts :

RE:
I have this stomach pouch that will not go away, no matter how many sit ups i do. Any advice?

The only way to get rid of stomach fat is to lose weight all around. You need to do cardio exercises in order to burn fat from your body. Also, if the pouch is caused by excess or stretched out skin, no amount of exercise will help - you would need a tummy tuck.

a combination of proper diet and exercise is honestly the only thing that will work effectively for the long term, and sit ups alone wont do it, read about some other exercises and see which ones u'd like to try, but eating properly is 50% of keeping yourself in shape. there is no quick easy way, just eat right, and workout right. good luck.

A "gut" below the navel is actually sometimes a sign that you are at risk to develop diabetes in the future. Keep an eye on this, especially if you have an immediate relative who has had diabetes. Sadly, if this is the case, it's next to impossible to get rid of the gut. Have your doctor test your fasting blood glucose to make sure you aren't diabetic already.

Avoid white flour and white sugar products, drink lots of water and do a lot of cardiovascular work outs... sit ups are good for toning muscle but not for burning fat..

Sit-ups won't do it. You probably already have hard abs, but you need to get rid of the fat that's covering them. Do more aerobics and try to lose some weight and you'll see them!

Getting strong muscles is not just about muscle exercises. It is also about eating right, and losing fat- like doing cardio.
