There goes Mom's nasty twitch again. I will say that would look bad, but it is very hard to judge someone's status simply by their automobile. This person really may be down on their luck and yet still have a nice car. I've seen it happen. Would you like to know what annoys me more? People on food stamps buying high grades of steak, junk food, soda and many other things that are non-nutritious. I've had a few people even ask me if they could buy their cigarettes with them. Don't get me wrong, MOST people who have food stamps need them and use them wisely. Some, however don't. Those are the ones that cheese me off.

I used to work in a grocery store and I would actually see this very often. Maybe not necessarily a BMW but some other high $ automobile. I think that if they are in that much need of food to go out and get food stamps then they need to realize that they have no business driving around "in style". However, on another note we would have customers who would be getting groceries for an elderly neighbor or family member.

OMG, YES. Very irritating. Plus the cable dish on the side of the trailer about to fall in. And the jewelry, 60" flat screen. Please. Not so many BMW's here more like Mercedes, lowered Caddys, Lexus'. Whip out those food stamps with those Dragon Lady fingernails that are 6 inches long. Obviously no job, how would you type with those things.

How about buying lotto tickets with the cash they get back. I know some now get a debit card now. Some even trade them for drugs around here. Go figure.

I know some people really need them but alot of them take advantage of it.

I don't think anyone should judge another when they don't know all the facts. Maybe they borrowed the car. Maybe their having a real rough time right now. I think if we all had to walk in some poor persons shoes that is having a real tough time we might be more tolerable. It's easy to judge people when your at the top of your game. But we all are subject to fall. Concentrate more on what you can do to help people. Poor people do know more then just other poor people. I understand getting upset when people abuse the system. But we should learn all the facts before we form an opinion.

YES! I even remember watching a mtv news report years ago when a rapper (ODB maybe) gets food stamps from the food stamp office or whatever you go to get it (i think he even had proper documentation) and goes to the grocery store to redeem them. For a rapper making millions, how the hell does the government not control who really needs the food stamps??

I haven't seen anyone like that. They have changed the stamps to a card and now with the card they can get things like soap and toilet tissue that are necessary items to. It's almost impossible to abuse the system this way. As for the BMW, maybe they had it before they came on hard times. It does irritate me when they fill their cart up with junk food, but if that is what they like to eat who am I to judge?

Of course it does, I have to carry mine home by hand! An I don't even get food stamps! >:( Why can't they just sell that stinking BMW, buy a Olds, and use the difference to get them through the pinch? You want to know what really pizzed me off a couple months ago? I went to the food bank, and I saw a woman talking on one of those Razor phones, and they had just came out at that time, so you know it costed her like two hundred dollars. I couldn't even afford a bar of deodorant and she could buy a brand new cell and go to the food bank? I swear, people just are so greedy these days, it's foul, decrepit, and mean. Those food stamps, and food banks are made for those who can't make ends meet, even if it is only temporary. If it were me I would've sold the freaking BMW, bought a uses Geo, and used the difference to get what I needed. I even sold my old rust bucket just so me and my brother could afford to eat one week. He refused help from my mother, and I couldn't go back to her for help because she was hurting and I would have felt bad because she would have helped. So I sold my 1989 Chevy Cavalier and managed to pinch out fifty dollars for it. It all went toward food for me and him for that week. Of course we didn't eat the next week, but thankfully we got to go to the food bank the week after.

Noone deserves to act corrupt and use the system like that, because that system is ment for the people who really need it. When they do that it drains our economy, and it makes the politicians think they should restrict funds to such agencies.

I don't like to judge, BUT....maybe they should sell the BMW if they can't afford NECESSITIES! Several years ago, my husband was a "Schwan's Man". We couldn't afford to buy half the stuff he was selling, but the food stamp people sure ate well!!! Definitely something wrong with that system!

YEP, they are working the system! it's shamefule that hardworking people like us have to work our butts off, sick, tired , whatever, driving my kids in a minivan, while these people sit around and ride the government=us! my father had a heartattack roofing a house in his 60's and those people do that?!
I live in Houston and was listening to a morning show where they had reported Katrina "victims" were going to start robbing people if the government cut off their benefits.
It's a crime honey! and YES it TICKS ME OFF!
GLAD someone else pays attention to the backwards stuff going on in the world!!!

There is definitely something wrong with the world if hardworking people get nowhere and the lazy succeed..

I have actually stood in line behind a *foreign* family who had 2 baskets piled high (back in the days when it was still food stamps and not a credit card looking thing ~ early 90's). These people were dressed to the 9's with kids that looked like they'd been ordered from a kid catalog. Women in lots of silks with LOTS of jewelry.

I had $40 to buy two weeks of groceries for myself and my (then) spouse.

Obviously, it didn't take long to check me and my $40 worth out. I walked out of the store and, you have my absolute word of honor on this, there was the family, with an equally well-groomed, impeccably dressed young man behind the wheel of a "baby" Benz ... which had the paper tags still on it ... waiting on the bag boy to finish loading their groceries in the trunk.

So, i'm thinkin' if the Benz had paper tags on it, their financial "downfall" hadn't just happened. It'd take longer to get food stamps than it would for the new metal tags to come in.

I think they've cracked down on it a lot more these days, but i hear too much about it happening. Danged thing is, it's the *foreigners* getting it for the most part!!

Have also stood countless times behind people paying with food stamps/card who will then pull out a $100 bill to buy cigarettes. Oh. Okay. You can't afford FOOD, but you have a $100 bill for cigarettes. Nice.
