It has grown quite a bit, and gotten very thick. Thank God. My question. Can I straighten it with a hot iron and curl it, without damage?

i honestly dont see why it would damage it more than any other time you would straighten and curl it, one suggestion, and this is a ghetto way to do it, ( coke cans ) my mom said she use to do hers this way, depending on the length of your hair you can get big rollers and let them in over night, it may not make your hair as straight as you want it but it will lessen the time you have to use the hot iron on your hair therefore less stress, just make sure you get them tight enough

texturizer is what it sounds like it adds texture to your hair, if your hair breaks easily and is very fragile ( as with most black woman ) it will help thicken it giving it strength and the oppurtunity to grow i beleive it also moisturizes- more like a cream than a grease -

now, I know a relaxer is a perm, but a texturizer? Isn't that like a jherri curl (I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just asking). I'm pretty sure if you don't use too much heat or spend too much time on your new growth you should be okay. Your best bet would be to find a flat iron that works on wet hair. I bought one for $150 (rip off) they have simular ones in Target or Walmart for about $40 to $50. That way, you can wash your hair, lightly dry it, then use the ceramic flat irons on your damp hair to straighten it. Good luck

Whats a texturizer, is that a perm? If so, anything you do to your hair is going to damage it, but the most important point to make is, if you look cute when you curl or straighten your hair.

Just the straightening and curling will damage it but will it fall out? I doubt it. Happy Hair!

Any time you apply heat to your hair you are causing damage. And for those that don't know a texturizer is a mild relaxer.
