Who cares what kind of dog it is as long as your personalities match?

You would be surprised at the different breeds sitting in your local shelter! Don't buy from breeders or pet stores, ever! Go save a dog's life and that dog will be forever grateful to you!

It all depends.Do you have room for a large dog or just room for a small dog.?Do you have kids or plan to have kids soon? What is your personality? Do you have a lot of time for a dog that would need alot of time and attention?Do you want a purebreed or a mix? How much money do you plan to spend on a dog?Do you plan to buy from a pet shop, a private owner, or plan to adopt?Do you want a puppy or an older dog? Do you already have other pets?

well it depends on your personality. Some dogs are prone to other types of people. Personally, I am a 22 year old student and I like to go outside and do stuff. I have a pit-bull mix and she is great cause the races me on my bike, goes running with me, and generally wants to do everything with me. If you are like me then get a pitbull or a boxer. Mixes are ok too, but whatever you do get it from a shelter. There are tons of great dogs that need a good home.

You really need to think about how often you are planning on walking the dog. Many people get a "high energy" dog and then can't figure out why the dog digs/tears things up, etc...Dogs are alot like kids. They need to get out, they need to excersize or they get bored. If they are tired from their walk, they don't have energy to dig, and tear things up. Search on the internet for a breed that fits your lifestyle. Look up "high energy dogs" "low energy dogs" etc...

Adopting is the best. But,if your looking for a particular breed,I'd go with a Pit Bull. They get a bad rep,but they are some of the sweetest, most loyal dogs you could ever have.I've had at least three Pit Bulls since I was 2,and they've been wonderfu family pets.Just make sure you get a puppy, and train it VERY strictly.A Pit won't listen if it doesn't respect/fear you.

Get a mutt from the shelter, especially a dark, older-than-a-puppy mutt. Why? Dark dogs and older dogs (not necessarily "old," just "older") are less likely to get adopted. An older dog might already have been house trained and will be through the chew-everything-in-sight phase. And mutts? They're healthier, both mentally and physically, than purebreds.
Best of luck! Owning a dog(s) is one of the great things in life!
P.S. Get two if you can. They really, really like to have company when you're not around.

Go to your local animal shelter and walk a few dogs you especially like. Go a few times a week and finally choose a dog you've really bonded to. But remeber, ask yourself "Why do I want a pet?" "Do I have the time for a pet?" "Can I afford My pets food, medical, and other needs?" "What will happen to my pet if I have to move or I pass on?" "Will the area I live in allow pets?"
Remeber, you have to be available to feed the dog and give it water, give it attention, and love and caress it. You always have to have room in your budget for pet food, toys, and medical costs.
But,
I recommend a Chocolate Lab or Pug.
