When you first get your period, it's usually not very regular. It'll take a while for it to settle down into the routine. I know my period would sometimes take about ten days before it went away, and then start up again two weeks later. Which was a pain, let me tell you!
Give it a while. If it keeps going, and if it makes you worry, ask your mom to call a doctor and get you checked out. Your doctor could also put you on the birth control pill, which helps regulate your period, but it's not necessary if this is only your second period. It might still settle down.
Until it does settle down, be sure to carry supplies with you, and maybe an extra set of undies.
Good luck and don't stress about it too much!

All of my life, my periods would be heavy for like the first 3 or 4 days and then I would have very light spotting (a couple of drops) for the last 4 or so. As I got older, they shortened to about 5-6 days. Once your hormones get on a schedule, you should get on a regular schedule that you keep most of your life. Don't worry. Everybody is different.

flow rates and days of duration will be erratic for the first few months ... as long as the flow rates aren't too heavy and make you light headed, its nothing to worry about. periods can last anywhere from 2 to 10 days until it settles down to a normalcy of 3 ro 7 days... panty liners are sufficient when its a drop or two

My period always last 7 days. My daughter just started hers around March. She had one period that lasted about 14 days. Then she didn't have another one until August. That one was around 11 days and in September she had a 7 day one. I think she's beginning to get regulated. You will too! Your body is just getting used to a new thing. (-:

Your periods will be irregular for a while so just get used to it until you get into a regular cycle. Light is better than heavy. Good luck.
