A friend suggested that I take some over the counter prenatal vitamins to strengthen my hair and nails. The thing is, I'm not pregnant. What are the complications/side effects of a non pregnant woman taking the vitamins? If I take them for a length of time, will it be hard to get off them, and when I do, will there be any side effects then?

they are just vitamins..lots of women continue to take them long after they have had the baby because they liked the energy they gave them and the way their hair grew and looked and the way their nails grew....you will be fine taking them!

There's no known side effects for non pregnant women to take prenatal vitamins. They are NOt hard to get off and they WILL grow your hair and nails like crazy.

There are no complications. But, you might be missing on trace vitamiins not found in most prenatal vitamins, if you buy over-the-counter. Give it a try, though. It will take about 20 days to notice any improvement.

It's just like taking any multi-vitamin. There are no side effects. I use to take them while I wasn't pregnant and they never made me sick or anything.
