How long can you leave a corked bottle of wine on the counter before it goes bad?

It really depends on the type of wine. You will always want to store wine on its side, this prevents oxygen from getting to the wine and making it turn into vinegar over long periods of time. You can extend the life of your open wine by putting it corked into the fridge. Wine that has been in the fridge should be drank within one week usually. But we have had open bottles longer- just affects the taste. Salut!

Do you mean never opened? Then for a long time.
If it's been opened and on the counter, I can only assume it's a red. Drink within 2-3 days or it will turn to vinegar.
