My cat Bubba has a small hot spot between his shoulder blades. This is the third summer he has gotten it and it comes back in the same place each time. The first year it went away on it's own. Last summer though it got enormous and had to be treated with antibiotics and a special soap and ointment. Bubba was abused as a kitten and generally speaking hates to be touched or even approached so it was really hard to do everything he needed me to do but I managed. This summer I called the vet, told them about it and even though it was less then 12 months since he had been treated for the same thing they would not sell me the medicine again unless I brought him in for an exam. I have a terrible time getting him in the pet taxi and they know this b/c I've had to cancel and reschedule so many times before finally getting him in over the years.

Here's my question - What are some home remedies I could use on my boy? It's a small spot right now. It gets worse when it's humid. Thanks!

Regarding the pet taxi, I have it out where he can always see it. I once lured him into the taxi with tuna and it worked and he ate every bite of that tuna but he has never been fooled again by it. I've lived with and cared for cats all of my life. I love him dearly but he is the most difficult cat I've ever known when it comes to being handled. When we first brought him home my husband had let the basement door open (grrr) and Bubba ran right down. We could not find him for days but he was eating and drinking what we left out for him. He was up in the area between the upstairs floor and the ceiling of the basement. We had to end up taking a hatchett and tearing down part of the basement ceiling to get him out. We've come a long way since then but I can't emphasize strongly enough how loathe he is to handling. And our vet knows that, it makes me so upset. I kind of feel like they have turned their back on Bubba. :-(

Try giving him the herb NEEM in wet cat food. It helps my cats who get an immune system reaction to really damp, hot or cold weather. It helps cats and humans too. We all take it at my house.

To help with the carrier problem, put the carrier in the area where you feed the cat, is it an inside cat? anyway, after a few days of the carrier being near the feeding area ( with the door propped open) start feeding the cat in it, if he doesn't go in, keep trying. Never use the cage as a punishment area. once in a while, close the door and talk to your cat letting him know that it isn't going to eat him alive and then open the door, letting him out. Keep this up, ( may take a few months) he'll get to know that the cage/carrier is alright and may not like it, but wont freak out being in it. Might help too, to close the door and walk to another area in the house and then back to the starting point, open the door let him out and be sure to let him know what a good cat he is. it worked with my two girls.....as for "home remedies" it's better to research them on feline RX and symtoms sites. That is providing you just can't get to a Veterinarian

I am sorry. There seems to be no response for your cat.... who may no longer be with you? For that you have my condolence. I have four cats and can't imagine my home life without either of them...
My Old Guy.... Pinky. He has a warm spot. He seems well, but otherwise has this warmth between his shoulder blades. Pinky is around 18-years old. We homed-him when he was 10. Had him for 8-years. Pinky is one stand-out guy. Pinky is the kindest most gentle guy you could EVER hope to meet. He raised our kitten two years ago (he was 16) and Gawain, is now one of the NICEST cats you could EVER hope to find! Gawain is loving, gentle, playful... thanks to Pinky.
I just want to help Mr. Pinky. Pinky has warmth between his shoulderblades and I don't know why. He is 18 now, in his human years.

It sounds to me like your Bubba might have a tumor. Ask your vet for a seditave that you can put into the water dish. Just make sure that no other animals drink that water.
Then have the cat X-Rayed. The vet may be able to remove whatever it is that keeps coming back.

I hope this helps.
Good luck.
