You know what? I've heard this Free will "believe",crap on here for so long, it is getting old.
God did NOT give anyone Free will to "believe or not". !!
Hear me ???? You don't have a choice to "believe".
God gave people the Free choice to :
"Accept". or. "Deny". Christ.
Satan & Demons believe. So, "believing", is meant to be had.
A person only has a Free will of "accepting".
point being: NOBODY...Has the "Right" from God, NOT to believe.
A person is not condemned to hell for not "believing", they are condemned for not "accepting". Satan is not in hell for not believing.
These ignorant atheists running up and down professing they don't "believe" is about the height of stupidity.
They are on their way to hell itself, and can't even explain why it is they are going.
Great Q*.

I honestly think some of them expect a Christian to come up with some fact that will convince them beyond any doubt that Christianity is THE WAY. Others are fanatical disbelievers and want to "put down" the Christians. They are the ones that want "proof" of God.I always admit that I can't prove there is a God, but tell them they can't prove there is not a God.

There's far more to discussing religion and spiritualism than that. It's not always about trying to convert people. The best discussions are exchanges of opinion. It's valuable to learn what our neighbors think, especially when they see things from a totally different point of view.

Well..the same reason that someone would want to ask a question like this with their opinion tucked in there. Everyone that answers has an opinion.....you're really not expecting someone to answer, "That's right, if you are not a believer you should not have an opinion!", are you? If you ask a question like, "Why did Lot's wife get turned to salt?", and you don't want a 'that's silly' kind of response....just say so. Something like, "Please answer this question only if you are a true believer.", would give people a hint at least.

because most of the time the other person is trying to convert them (i dont know the situation) but in the christian religion, its right to witness because "christianity is the only way" so if your not christian, they are trying to save you from being condemmed to hell. Im not saying ANYONE will be, im just saying that is what some believe

Cuz I don't want people to believe things that aren't true. Delusion can be dangerous and sometimes deadly - just take a look at all the atrocities committed in the name of God.

It's good to have deep, intense arguements about something ultimately meaningless and unprovable. Like ripping on someone when their favorite sports team looses a shut-out on Monday Night Football ...*sigh*... Or debating the nature of freewill, or arguing about the effects of time travel etc, etc, etc.

Explanations are not always meant as conversions. If someone asks a question about religion...I'm gonna answer. Just because you don't agree with my answer doesn't mean I was trying to convert you.
If I tell you my favorite color is blue, does that equal me trying to convert you? Or am I stating what I believe?

The same can be asked about you - I dont beleive in God, so why are you trying to convert me? Maybe not you PERSONALLY, but your brothers and sisters are!
See, its not as plain and simple as "you beleive, I dont so leave it alone." In this country (America), Christians are pushing their values and morals onto the majority of the population - regardless of their beleifs. Gay marriage, stem cell research....youre entitled to your beleifs, but youre not entitled to push your beleifs onto me and force me to live by them...which is exactly what you people are doing.
This is why we argue about religion.

I don't try to convert people to Buddhim, I try to clear up their misconceptions about other religions. These often lead to hatred, which is something Buddhists try to end...
