I agree whole heartedly. From my understanding, our goal as Christians should be to strive to walk in his footsteps, and to emulate his deeds. While none of us can perform the scriptural miracles, we should understand that we are fully capable of being a vehicle for God's will (what we know as the Holy Spirit), even though none of us were concieved miraculously to a virgin.
Personally I believe it's spiritually arrogant and irresponsible to assume that Jesus's sacrifice is an automatic "get into heaven free card", because I go by the earlier translation of the New Testament which reads "...so all that believe in Him MAY have eternal life..." and not the post-modern "...WILL have eternal life..."
"From the heart, the mouth speaks", "what soever you do to another, you do to me", and "go forth, and sin no more" seem to be clear reminders that we have a responsibility to be ambassadors for the Christ, and should do our best at all times to bring the glory of God as we know him to the world.
P.S., I hope this doesnt make me seem like a smartass, but technically Jesus was crucified closer to 1972 years ago. :)
Peace!

They are completely responsible. You're right, Jesus didn't die so they could go on and do what they wanted and then say "I'm sorry God" and it's alright. Might ease the guilt they feel, but it hardly makes it alright. And actually, the Bible states they are supposed to try to correct the wrongs they did, asking for forgiveness of those they have wronged. Not just asking forgiveness from God &/or Jesus.
They really can't expect us Non's to want to join up with a group that is that blatantly irresponsible, shoving the blame onto whatever else they can, be it "I've repented, so I'm good." Or, the ever famous "The Devil made me do it".
Again, you are right. Too many commit "sin" and then justify it by hiding behind the dogma of their religion, thinking the rest of us can't possibly judge what they have done. And if they are judged for it, they simply pull the "thou shalt not touch God's annointed" card out. And they wonder why people get so annoyed with their religion and generalize all Christians?

Jesus isnt a diaper, and yes, if you ask for forgiveness, your slate IS clean---> Jesus isnt a myth and im guessing your an athiest by the way you talk, so cheer up, you only have an eternity in hell to look forward to!
No, Jesus isnt a diaper, if he were he couldnt have died on the cross because, NEWSFLASH!, diaper's cant die. By the way, jesus didnt die 2006 years ago, just so you know.
Obviously you have had some kind of bad experience with s christian, well, im sorry but you must understand that not all christians beleive the exact same thing, ie. catholic's v. lutherans, so dont take your furstration out on jesus about what some so called christian did to you.

Yo Mimi
What you say is true if you are talking about those who profess to be Christian but are actually only religious. Most everybody in this country think that because they are American by birth with certain rights thereby that they are also "Christian" by birth and that such things as forgiveness are automatic - like a right.
Not so
Christianity, in it's true, original sense, is about relationships - namely that relationship between us and God (made possible because of Jesus' life and death and life again) and also those relationships we have with others here on earth.
The rest of the stuff you see and hear is mostly just stuff - religion - not Christianity.
A true Christian will not cut and run after hurting someone (yes, we do sometimes hurt people - hopefully accidentally) but will at least attempt to repair the relationship that existed prior to the hurt.
A true Christian will do everything in their power to help others, even if it is costly, inconvenient, or hurts themselves. Why? Because God gave of Himself in the form of Jesus in order to re-establish that relationship with each of us that once existed between He and the first couple, Adam and Eve.
Christians are commanded to put others first, to reach out to others where ever and who ever they may be and to help them, to give them hope, to show them love, without any expectation of something in return - ever.
You obviously sound as if you have been "stepped on" and then are expected to forget about it because the offender is a Christian.
You are hurt and rightfully should expect the other person to at least attempt to repair the damage.
Whatever has happened, however, know that God does exist, He does care about you and He wants to have a relationship with you. Ask Him to show Himself to you and He will - maybe not spectacular but something that you will know...

Wow, that's great imagery--- "big giant Jesus diaper'! And you're right. Too often, I forget that my insults/slights/sins can live on long after I've forgotten them. And I have noticed that asking forgiveness and offering restitution as you pointed out, are all too often deemed unnecessary altogether. But I believe that to have a real relationship with God, you have to stay sensitive to the possibility that you may need to appologize and/or actually do something to make it right somehow.
I try to remember the quote I heard someone say: "Bless those who curse you... for they may be right."
Hoping the best for you...

Not all of us. U have to remember that it is not everyone who acts like that. And anyways, a person claiming to be a Christian does thsoe things. Even teh fake Chrstians would know not to do those things. How can someon possibly say htey are Christian but do those things. Even some of them are against the law anyways!!!!!! I am confused. Whats Christians do u know does that. I understand the part about them trying get their slated clean when Jesus comes abck cuz some of them do do that. They expect Jessut o say oh u lived a nice life! When they know that they actually didn;t.

Christians are human too. However I do agree that they should ask forgiveness to those they have hurt. Things we have done in our past that have hurt people don't just disappear, they really do need to be addressed. Jesus does forgive us and throw our sins into the sea of forgetfullness, but that does not mean that the actions we have done, don't have consequenses. Don't put all of us Christians in the same catagory though. I personally go to those I have hurt and try my hardest make it up to them. I don't go around trying to see who I can hurt, then go hide behind the cross as you have said.

I find there's a difference between those who have found Jesus, and those who are truly penitent. The truly penitent doesn't go announcing to the world that they're "saved" and are therefore without sin; the truly penitent is quiet, humble, remorseful, ready to accept their sins and attempt to make amends for them.
Even though I'm an Atheist, I can respect the truly penitent. I have no respect for those who find Jesus to wipe the slate clean.

Yes they do, but you have to remember "The Devil Makes Them Do It!" It's not like they mean to, or set out to do. My brother had a pair of red bikini jocks that said 'Ole devil made me do it'.
Now, I'll tell you for a certainty that if his wife had found those shorts between some other gals sheets, the ole devil would make her whip brothers butt from hell to breakfast, I kid you not. And none of would it be anyone else but the devils fault.
Unless one of those preachers who blame loose women for everything judged the situation. Then it would be the wife's fault for not properly accommodating her husband, and the fallen woman for tempting him! Women been evil temptresses since they bit that apple; course Adam finished it to the core, but it was Eve's fault.

Exactly, they may think that their sins are absolved, but the ramifications of their wrongs still echoe throughout this world, and someday they will collide with the original sinner.
