While using Microsoft Word, I cannot highlight words and delete them using the backspace button. I am able to do this elsewhere. How can I fix my M.Word?

try using the delete key. The backspace button is simply that, backspace. If not, just hit Control-Z to undo your last move.

Use the Delete key to delete highlighted text.
The backspace key is mainly just used for erasing one or more letters after the cursor (i.e. it isn't the same thing as the Delete key).

If you're asking your question because MS Word USED TO delete text with the Backspace key, then that's different. I don't have Word, but maybe the problem is that you accidentally hit the Insert key beforehand?

astonishing question! I very just about continuously use delete extremely than backspace. I hate it whilst i'm utilising somebody else's keyboard and the delete button is located in a cool place. =P

Go up to the front of the word you want to delete and use the delete button, instead.
