This is a bit hard to sort out, but normally insurance follows the vehicle. As long as the person's friend had permission, the other insurance would normally cover it. If he did not have permission, then the other insured person would have to file a police report and have the person arrested for theft (which is not likely to happen). One big exception to this is if the person who was driving the vehicle was excluded ON THE POLICY. This is kind of rare.

Insurance is a very tricky business, you need to read the dotted lines carefully otherwise you may not be insured while you thought you were. there are many issues surrounding your question as to determine whether your insurance as a passenger covers the driver as well. First question, what kind of insurance policy do you have, comprehensive or third-party. Did your insurance co. know that someone else would sometimes be driving your car? Did the driver have a drivers licence, was he insured to drive? Not all the questions can be asked or answered here, however, it is important to let you know that, your insurance does not cover the driving party unless it is so stated in your policy.

It depends on what their policy says and whether there's any endorsement excluding coverage for that driver. Usually though, policies will cover the driver if the insured gave the driver permission. In this case, if their insured was IN the vehicle, there is pretty much permission, wouldn't you think? Ask for more information regarding why there's no coverage. And by the way, it's wreck, not reck.

I was in a wreck one time, and the guy that hit me did not even have a license, and was drunk driving his sisters car, and her insurance paid me. she had Sate Farm, but think they dropped her afterward. I think it depends on your insurance though because my insurance that I have now, state that everyone else is NOT covered on mine.

All insurance companies are different about who they will insure and who they will not. Read the fine print.....always.

I think it may. Depending on what coverage the guy had, it should. You have to contact your insurace company. they have computers and know how to find this stuff out.
