I worked as a Nurse in Romania in the early 1990's. A worked in a town called Galait. I have never met such hospitable people in my life....for people who had so little, they gave a lot.

The Romanian people that I met were friendly, interesting, intelligent and most of all happy. In a society that at the time had so little and had gone through so much, it made me very humble.

I feel that you are now the forgotten. There was a blast of help and aid, and then the do gooders moved on to the next cause. God Bless you all and good luck in the future.

I have been living and working in Budpaest, Hungary for more than a year now, and I am sorry, but Romanians are seen as a big drain on the State. They take up housing and are seen as being thieves and trouble makers, scrounging off others rather than making a good, honest living for themselves. I am not Hungarian myself, just an outside observer, working with Hungarian nationals

Sadly here in the UK they are seen as the most negative form of images that Gypsy's have ie thieves etc - but not all of us think that way, some of us see Romanian as lovely poeple in general xx

don't know much about it. The orphanige thing rings a bell back along. But apart from that I guess the country is relatively poor and probably has nice food.

i dont think most americans know too much about romania. (you didn't specify how the country looks to whom, so here's my american P.O.V.) i see it as a small country who i think had some good gymnasts in some olympics. that's really all i know about it. nothing bad, nothing good, just a european country.

I know nothing much about the Romanians so I won't judge them until I meet them.
