Jesus himself forgave the people who nailed him to a cross, but (so-called) christians today totally ignore his example and are filled with hate for anyone who disagrees with them (about religion, stem cells, gay marriage, evolution). JESUS CHRIST what's with these people?

Some good answers. Mom and Celestial seem to have it right. Like Islam, a few troublemakers always seem to overshadow the decent majority. And when you ask ANYBODY for an answer, I suppose anybody will.

Tube Dude - Christians are the only ones who espouse "love thy enemy." Not the athiests, pagans, or even muslims.

You're probably referring to Right Wing Christian Conservatives. Seems like they feel they can impose their way of thinking on everyone. Don't pay any attention to them - they are not worth your time.

i don't know. maybe they have gotten away from asking what gods will is for them and are listening to something spoken from a pulpit, i think when people get together in any type of group, it starts to get a superiority complex if it stays within itself. that's why i think Jesus got out amongst the people. he was a carpenter but he didn't build a church. remember in high school how there would be clicks and clubs. its not just Christians its groups of people that get stagnant and forget their original passion and purpose. but don't be too hard on them because they are sincere, they just don't have the tact that some of us would prefer. but it sure does damage the whole body of Christ and his message of acceptance and love. if any of you are without sin cast the first stone. they say that the reason so many young people are getting hooked up with gangs is for that sense of belonging. as long as we are jugging how can anyone feel like they can belong.

My oldest sister is like that. I mentioned a class I had in college in Bible History. Evidently, she didn't like what I said, for she threw a tantrum and insulted me outrageously. She does that constantly. She is bad enough in any conversation, but she really goes nuts if I mention religion. I wrote several letters to an editor that list many contradictions and scientific errors in the Bible. She is angry about that. She became so hateful that I quit speaking to her. She attends some church services three times a week and then acts like that. What a hypocrite! I think one reason such people become angry is that they realize deep down that there is no basis for their beliefs and they don't want anyone to back them into a corner on it. They are brainwashed to believe that questioning or doubting the religion that was shoved down their throats when they were children is sinful. Such stuff cannot work on me. I doubted the family religion when I was 7 or 8 years old, and I questioned everything as well. I saw Sis' son questioning her religion when he was 9 or 10 years old, so she rushed him off to church for brainwashing and blamed me for teaching him bad things. Like me, he was resistant to brainwashing. She tries to say he is religious, but I know better.

Because many Christians feel that their belief system is being undermined and mocked every day, that no-one wants to stick up for decent Christian opinion any more, especially many people who call themselves Christian.
You cannot say this is specifically linked with Christian answers either- Muslim answers can also be very one sided, as can atheistic opinions who seem to want to do little but bait Christians.

Go down the list of postings that start popping up when the kids get out of school and the deadheads start waking up. Look how nasty, hateful, filthy mouthed some of these postings are. One after another, very few serious questions, just hatefulness and meaness. I guess it gets to some of us, I know it gets to me. I'd like to come through that line of nastymouths with a bar of soap and a razor strop. We don't want or try to be hateful or angry, but the scriptures say there is a time to be angry, and you people are calling our Heavenly Father bad names and disrespecting Him, The God of Glory! What is really upsetting to us is that you want us watch you cut your spiritual throat and not say anything. God loves you, every one of you and you spit in His face. That is stupid and so hurtful. It hurts us to see and hear it, and it hurts Him because He is your loving Heavenly Father. Of course we are going to be angry. If you saw a friend try to commit suicide wouldn't you be upset? Wouldn't you be upset if someone cursed and ridiculed someone you love very much? Of course you would. Let's make a deal, we won't get irate and you don't make fun of our Savior. Sounds fair to me.

You are right. I am a devote Catholic. But I do not believe that I have to be rude or hateful to defend my religion. Actually I do not feel the need to defend being a christian at all. I feel that each and every person has a right to their beliefs. With out having to be yelled at or put down for what they do or do not believe.

this question would be right if Jesus was nailed on the cross! but her wasn't, Qur'an says (translation):

"157That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah.;- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:-
158Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise;-
159And there is none of the People of the Book but must believe in him before his death; and on the Day of Judgment he will be a witness against them;- " (Chapter #4, Verse #157-159)

anyway an answer to your question would be: because Christianity was edited it carries contradicting things, and in some parts it carries somethings that is over the human's power! like "if some one hit you on your face, give him the other side"... this is over people's power, our power as humans is limited, and thus our power in such cases is only to forgive, and very little of people who can meet bad with good from their side.

that is very true. it does not just go for christians either. alot of ppl today think that their beliefs are the only right ones and do not like them being questioned. i think its cu these days no one really listens to one another but just gets their poin accross. if we listened we would be more understanding twars others and less bitter when our truths are questioned. i belive that we make our own truths and should not put down the believed truths of others just cuz we dont agree with them.

Because Jesus Christ is God- he never sins. God is perfect.
We on the other hand are man. We are sinful people. Sometimes people just get frustrated. You are right, we christians need to be setting an example
1Tim4:
.....but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
