im a 16 yr old guy.. EVERY time i go to get my hair cut, they always end up saying.. wow, your hair is sooooo thick! They recommended a special conditioner, and i've been using it for about 8 months, and it has worked a bit, but barely. My hair is still really thick, it's about 1 inch long. Gelling it each morning is my only option for style, and even then when i brush it back, it ends up being ugly after an hour or two.. here's a pic of it looking bad... any tips or anything on how to make it look better or softer? http://i9.tinypic.com/3yzz6uc.jpg

if only my hair was naturally thin and soft, then i wouldn't have to go thru all of this...

It could be worse, you could be a member of the Combover Gang. I have thick hair, too. If I go natural without braiding I can't comb through it at all once it gets an inch long. There are 3 options: (1) keep your hair cut short, (2) use a relaxer, or (3) braid it. My boyfriend wishes he had our problem.

it is a stupid answer, but bleaching it a lot will thin it out - but it'll be damaged, and you'd need lots of treatments and a good shampoo/conditioner for dry hair to fix it.

i used to get refused service at salons as a kid because my hair was so thick (female). years of dying it have thinned it heaps, compared to what it was, but it is still thick.

I suggest that you cut it into a low fade your hair texture is very thick. Some people just arent meant to have long hair.

The best suggestion is to cut it down very low where all u have to do is brush it.
