I installed the Windows XP Fax Program (Microsoft Fax Console Ver. 5.1) and it doesn’t dial out. I can hear the modem getting dial tone but it doesn’t dial out. The modem works fine because I have dial-up internet and it dials O.K.
Need help if you are familiar with this program.
thanks

Hi. The first question would be. Is your modem a fax-modem?
you can find out by going to start>control panel>phone and modem options, then click the modem tab, then click property from the bottom of the screen. On the next screen select diagnostic tab. Then Click "query modem". at this point the screen will display information about your modem and the fact that is a fax-modem.
