Because it's a feminist based religion. It was started by a man who liked to be beaten by strong willed women.

It's not hard or dumb. I know many men who follow a Wiccan path. It is not just for women nor was it ever however some "branches" of Wicca tend to have more women than men in them. Just don't fall for the whole "you're a wizard or worlock crap" A Wiccan is a Wiccan be they male or female and same goes for being a witch.

Since the Wiccan faith was founded by a man, Gerald Gardner, I can see no logic in the position that it's easier for women. I used to study with a Wiccan Priest who was also a 4th dan at Karate. Anyone wants to tell him he's wrong and dumb for being Wiccan, let them, I'd like to watch. One possible reason you find more female than male Wiccans is that Wicca denies any form of inherent male superiority or right to rule their spouses. In certain traditions the Priestess automatically outranks the Priest solely by virtue of gender. It takes a very secure male to deal with women who feel no need to stroke his ego or act as less than they are to gain his approval.

Perhaps they would've had the same attitude regardless of what religion you told them you are practicing. I know of plenty of male Wiccans, but admittedly, the majority of Wiccans in my local community are female. Also, the majority of Druids and Recons in my local community are male. Maybe this is just a local quirk. I don't know. But I see no reason for gender to be a barrier to the religious path that is right for a person as long as that religion accepts both genders.

Some sects of Feminism have advocated Wiccan and Paganism as religion free of Patriarchal baggage. Thus there is some association with the female gender, but I'm not sure your friend would know about this.

I never even knew it was a problem. Guess its the ol' stereotype of only ugly old women with pointed black hats being "wiccans"
I however see nothing wrong with male wiccans and know that the old stereotype of witches is quite far from the truth.

Wiccans teach to live your truth, stop telling people and just live, if you are living well no one will make fun and you may even convert some of the nay-Sayers
