No. The term in-law of course means related by law or in that case marriage. So if you are no longer married then they are no long in-laws.

The answer comes from the term itself, "in law." The family relationship is developed by law when you got married, hence the term mother-in-law, etc., but when you sever the relationship by law by divorce, the relationship by law no longer exists. So, the answer is NO, they are no longer your "in-laws" but they are still friends maybe.

When Plaintif and I got divorced my late brother-in-law said to me "You will always be my brother-in-law." I greatly appreciated that. And when my son got married all of the litigants side of the family showed up at the wedding, and true to his word my brother-in-law acted as though he was very happy to see me again. So, I guess the answer to your question from my experience is that it totally depends on how close you were to your in-laws before the split. One thing is probably certain, if they didn't like you before you divorced they sure as hell won't like you after.

Didn't strokes for different folks. I am still very, very close with all of my ex-in-laws. The only one I have difficulty with now and then is my ex-husband. The rest of his family say that I divorced him, not his family.

No. If you get on with them then don't cut them off just because you divorce.
