Ok, well me and my hubby want to buy a house, we have a contract on it, but in order for it to go through, it must have closets. We want real closets, but the seller won't install them...he instead offered to install a 72" by 48" by 20" prefabricated closet. Me and my husband have no clue what these are...I tried searching and had no luck. Are they good things to have in your home? Would that be a good size? Or should we try to negotiate and get real ones...?Thanks for your help!!!

Negotiate! The prefabs are similar to materials used in trailers...very plastic. I lived in an apartment which had them, livable for a rental...but this is your home. You may try to negotiate the price down....and do the work your self. A good carpenter can really customize a closet to fit your needs.
Another option is Ikea.

I would check with the state/county building commissioner in your area. Closets are a must have. Rooms are not considered bedrooms with out closets. You can't pass inspection with out them. If he is being picky about closets I would hire my own inspector before finalizing the home. There is no telling what else he skimped on if you weren't able to check everything yourself (everyday). I know of a few people who have lost thousands in new homes because the inspectors were paid off and the builder skipped town. Just a word to the wise. Don't believe everything your builder is telling you. No closets sounds really fishy to me. Spend the extra $500 and get your own inspector, it will be the best money you could spend on your home.

I'm thinking a pre-fab closet is probably like an armoir or something...I say make the seller put the closets in, or provide you with an allowance to install closets yourselves.
