Depends on the size of the person, the activity level, if you are trying to maintain your weight, lose weight, or gain weight. I think they say the average is 2000 cal/day. But it really depends on a lot of factors.

It really depends, everyone used to say that it was 2000 calories. I was told that a person of my height and weight should be 1800 calories. I find that I do gain weight (slowly) at 1800 (and in all actuality 1800 is more than my stomach wants in a day). I notice that at 1500 I fell good and have maintained my weight. With all that said, learn you're body. The less you weigh, the less calories it takes to maintain that weight. Also if you do a lot of physical work, you will expend more calories so you would need more calories to maintain that weight. If you want to lose weight it is recommended to cut 500 calories a day of your current calorie intake. I also read that losing about 3000 calories is about 1 pound (but you don't want to do that within a short time period).

Here is some good info about calories

That depends on the size of the person, their energy level and other factors. Most people can survive no problem on a 1600-2000 calorie a day diet.

It depends on one's bodyweight, but the least extreme diet would be 1200-2000 calories with 60% carbs, 25% protein and 15% fats breakdown

Well your Basil energy, the amount you burn just by being alive, is roughly 10 times your weight in pounds, so me being 180, mine is 1,800. If you exercise, its more.
