There is a doggie daycare near where I live and I think its great. The dogs actually get most of the day to play with eachother, and are only separated out once or twice for about an hour each time for naptime and treats. This is great for socialization!!! They also have a separate play area for large and small dogs, as well as for older dogs. Even when in a cage, it is a very large area (approx 4ft x 6ft). I thinks doggie daycare is a wonderful way to keep dogs busy all day while we are at work.

lol... a majority of the time they spend at a 'day care' is spent in a cage... I think it's a waste of money, even the best (large scale) ones only let your dog out for an hour and rarely, if ever, actually play with your dog. Yes, even those who charge extra to specific play time ;-) A small scale personal home business or something might be a little bit better. In Philly, there was an investigative report of the 5 largest doggie day cares... the worst case the dogs were only let out of their runs one time during a 9.5 hour stay, and some owners had been paying $15 extra for 30 minutes of specialized play time for their dog. The best one let the dogs out for 10 minutes individually three times a day on average, and 2 more hours in a group setting... but still 6+ hours in a cage/run.

Again, that was center city Philadelphia in larger businesses/chains of pet day care. I just think if your dog is well trained at home there's no need. I know one of the dog walkers at a local dog park takes his 'day care' puppies out for an hour 3 times a day to the park ;-) So if I ever did anything like day care, it would only be an individual, never a big company.

I have a 7 month old german shepherd that use to go. He sort of got bigger than the other dogs. With his size and attitude. He wanted to boss everyone else and tried to eat the tiny ones. But when he was little he loved it. Was great for socialization. Now he has to be with bigger dogs for that. He is doing better now with little dogs. My cats taught him it isn't ok. Part of it is just his breed. Just trying to protect.

Mine never did, but I worked with a woman who dropped hers off when she came into work. It worked out great for them. Mine dog likes to sleep on the couch during the day. She moves from couch to bed, so I don't think she minds being alone for a few hours.

i think this is just nuts !
ive had animals my whole life , and im pretty sure theyd rather sleep on the couch , verses a cage !
my 11 year old terior mix gets cage fright ,, we learned this when i had her spy at 6 mo.
i really dont agree with the doggy day care thing !
i think its mean . they only get to play certain times of the day ,,
the rest of the time thier confind to a small cage ...
i just think its rediculous .
