The Muslims too had thier conflicts with each other and you see there is Shia and Sunni..but the Sunni are greater in number than Shia
The separation happened due to historical political issues too..

yes our worship is quite different because we use certain body movement like bowing for example with reciting verses from the Qur'an and it is called Salat..we do five prayers per day and a Muslim can pray more if he wants more reward from God..We worship the same God as you but the difference is that we believe that Jesus was the messenger of God and we don't believe in his devinity..we also believe in the virginity of Mary and that Jesus's birth was a miracle from God.

The "split" between the Catholic and Orthodox churches happened way back and well before Protestantism arrived on the scene.
There was an argument about a point of the religion but, I think, the two drifted apart on a geographical basis (the Orthodox is dominant in the East, Catholic in the West). The two branches have not re-united but are on very good terms (in the main seeing their seperation from each other as an accident of history rather than anything serious).
Now in the bible Jesus says "I name you Peter (which means "rock") and on this rock I will build my church". St Peter, after the resurrection, went to Rome and founded the catholic church. So the Catholic church claims to be the decended from the church established by Jesus himself.
In the middle ages the Catholic church became very corrupt and meddled in politics. As a reaction (there were differences in doctrine, but it was mainly a reaction to corruption and meddling in politics) protestantism arose.
Now I suspect that the situation is the same in Islam (do say if I'm right or wrong). The vast majority of Catholics and Protestants are much the same as each other, believe much the same things and live together perfectly well. SOME idiots do not get on with the "other side", and usually this trouble is down to nationality, territory, power etc rather than religion.

in my christian education there are only 2 sects of religions in the united states catholic and protestant. protestant is lutheran baptist and many others but we worship the same GOD.when we pray it is to JESUS who intercesses our prayers to GOD.catholics intercesses their prayers through the VIRGIN MARY as i have been to a few catholic churches but im still not sure about the services. however it doesnt make any difference to me how a person prays really because we worship the same GOD and the SON JESUS.with Orthodox there are a few different sects of the denomination like greek and i think roman. i would like to know about your religion and how you worship. do you have special prayers as catholics do?my church has a prayer that ends with GOD the FATHER, GOD the SON and GOD the HOLY SPIRIT.JESUS said in the new testament if you have seen ME you have seen the FATHER.if you can get a King James version of the holy bible it has the old and new testaments. the Jews that have not converted to christianity read from the old which is fine with me but since this entire bible is the inspired word of GOD why not read it all?since i was a child i attended sunday school and the morning worship service.catholics attend mass on sunday but i think they have a service during the week or maybe every morning each day.if we can agree on many things and worship GOD why cant we be friends?the turmoil all over the world has made satan pleased with all the death and destruction but soon and very soon JESUS will return and put a stop to all of this mess.

You have asked a penetrating question that requires a thoughtful and prolonged answer which is, of course, impossible in this forum.
Briefly, however, Catholics believe that Jesus Christ founded the Catholic (or universal) church and that the current Catholic Church can trace her roots, dogma, practice and traditions back to Jesus.
Protestants are 'protesters' who came out of the Catholic Church in protest over the control of ungodly men within the Catholic Church. There was legitimate discord over the way that the Catholic Church was selling indulgences and other inappropriate activities in the name of Holy Mother Church.
Orthodox usually refers to Judaism. There are Orthodox Jews, Reformed Jews, Hasidic Jews and so on. I cannot speak to Judiasm as I am not educated in Judiasm.
I am so honored by your desire for knowledge. Please, help us understand Islam and the teachings of the Prophet, blessed be his name.

well catholics believe that mary is the mother of God. orthodox believe the same as protestants. i'm a protestant (lutheran, same thing). we believe that mary wasn't the mother of God or Jesus. she was the scientific mother, but she was just His mother in the sence of in the dictionary it says a mother is the female that gives birth to the child or a female who raises that child. mary did that. Jesus is not the biological son of joseph and mary. one thing catholics don't want converts to know is that joseph and mary had other children. the big bang theory is not true. the only way that is true is if God created the universe with a big bang. the davinci code where it says that jesus had a sexual relationship with mary magdalene is also a lie. when jesus was born onto this earth he didn't go thru during life the things we do. he did feel the pain of the nails thru the palms and the feet. oh yeah and the evolution theory is not true as well. animals were created first BUT adam was created straight after. so that disproves that theory. i hope you convert to christianity.

I can't say for other Christian religions other than Catholics, but if you read the Apostles Creed that pretty much sums up what most Christians believe.
1. To gain the happiness of heaven we must know, love, and serve God in this world. Man must know, love and serve God in a supernatural manner in order to gain happiness of heaven. Man is raised to the supernatural order only by grace, a free gift of God.
2. We learn to know, love, and serve God from Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who teaches us through the Catholic Church.
In order to be saved, all persons who have attained the use of reason must believe explicitly that God exist and that he rewards the good and punishes the wicked; in practice they must also believe in the mysteries of the Blessed Trinity and the Incarnation.
3. By the Blessed Trinity we mean one and the same God in three divine persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
By the Incarnation is meant that the Son of God, retaining His divine nature, took to Himself a human nature, that is, a body and soul like ours.
4. The Church is the congregation of all baptized persons united in the same true faith, the same sacrifice, and the same sacraments, under the authority of the Sovereign Pontiff and the bishops in communion with him.
5. We find the chief truths taught by Jesus Christ through the Catholic Church in the Apostles' Creed.
The Creed is as follows...
We I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Creator of Heaven and earth;
We believe in Jesus Christ,
His only Son, our Lord,
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day He rose again.
He ascended into Heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the communion of Saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.

The main difference is sources of authority. While all three give some weight to the Bible, Church leadership, and tradition as authoritative, the Protestants emphasize Biblical Authority, Catholics emphasize the authority of the Bishop of Rome, and the Orthodox emphasize the authority of the seven Ecumenical Councils.

The main differences come down to:
1. Justification
2. Sanctification
3. Sacraments or ordinances
4. Grace and how it is given
5. Church government

If I were you, I would pray to "RA, the sun god". Afterall, he is older than Islam or Christianity.
Also, If you don't accept him: He will cast you into the TOMB of 10,000 snakes!!!
Why run the risk? He will return soon on his golden camel (Ishmal) to reclaim his rightful throne.
Jesus can't beat him and neither can Mohammad. RA is 50 Feet Tall! Come on, who do you think would win???

none of them can agree on what the Silly Book (bible) says. there are HUNDREDS of different denominations of christainity. Why? because none of them can agree on the bible, what it says, what is to be taken literally, what is to be taken as the word of god, they cannot agree on how to worship, and what cult rituals to participate in.
it's the most ridiculous, silliest book ever written, and clearly the biggest practical joke ever pulled on mankind. it's so sad that so many people are still brainwashed by it.
