Would it be better to raise kids in a smaller town where all there is are houses and farms and the closest store is a 20 minute drive, although there is a church, park, post office in the town. They would be living in a newly built house on around 3-5 acres of land and possibly have horses, cows, and other animals. They would have to ride the bus to school from kindergarten and up. Or would it be better to live in a bigger town with every kind of amenity you could want within walking/biking distance. But the house would be older and smaller with only a .25 to 1 acre of land. They probably couldn't have horses or other large animals. But they would be able to walk/bike to school and be able to do more extra-curricular activites.

I don't know what some people mean by I answered my own question. Because I like both situations, that's why I'm asking for other's opinions.

My kids are all under 3 1/2 so it doesn't matter to them yet.

Also my kids will be just as loved in either situation, so that has nothing to do with it.

Country Setting makes sense to me. My parents moved us to the country when my teenage brother started getting into the wrong crowd. I would say if they hadn't my life would be completely different. GOOD BAD??? No one can tell you that. But in my experience - I found that the fast pace of today's society is not as good for the family as a slower down to earth country home. It also depends on how old the children are at this time. If they are older they may rebel against this more sheltered life and not appreciate the wholesome life style- this can be counter productive. If young- this is the time to show your children what really matters in life- not the fast pace city life. "the more you have then the Jones' the better your are"

It all depends on what you view as being more important for your children. I personally moved from Las Vegas to a small town once I had my first. Although it is sometimes inconvinent to be far away from stores and such there is a comfort in knowing your town like you would your neighbors. My daughter loves living here and running into people that she knows all the time and having more freedom because there are less worries with traffic and crime. I am eight months pregnant with my second and would move all over again to give this baby the same things I gave my first.

I would pick the country and the animals before the city and all the STUFF. Your kids will have a healthier life style. Less t.v., computers, and more fresh air.

Join PTO at your childrens school and help creat more extra-curricular programs at the school they attend in the country. Or just make up teams with kids who want to do these things after school.

I think a smaller town beacuse they learn to enjoy the quality of real life, not all the city garbage that makes you superficaial. Although I think a small town is better I do beleive its important to get your children out of the small town and into the city so they experience different surroundings.

small towns have more sex, drugs and partying. Went to H.S. in a small town and that's all anyone did, because there wasn't much to do besides that. I'm not saying that it's okay, I'm say that this sort of thing is more common than parents realize.

My town had the 3rd biggest drug bust in Calfornia history that involved over 20 students at the school.

I would definatley say the smaller town which is quieter 1. it is healthy being away from car fumes etc 2. (as long as you do have transport to and from shops) your children will love it being able to run around and be free with horses etc 3. its much nicer and less trouble bringin children up

I think that it's really the parents choice, either way sounds great. Check out the extra curricular activies that are available in both situations and bring it up with your children. If it boils down to them making the decision, they'll love you more cause you confided in them to make the decision.

Bigger town, definitely. That is the direction the world is going, and your kids need to learn how to live in that environment.
