My boyfriend just confessed to me that he's been smoking weed behind my back. I knew he smoked way back in the beginning of our relatioship. Then he convinced me that he quit 2 years ago. He confessed today because he feels really bad that he'd been lying to me (so he says). I know it could be worse, but I feel betrayed. What should I do?

He told me he wont do weed anymore. He said he didnt want to lose me. We invested 5 years into this (his words). It really sounded like he meant it.

If he lied about the weed, what else might he be lying about? Can you trust him? Of course, at least he has a conscience, so maybe he's worth a little more of your time, if he promises to be up front with you. Can you handle it if he still smokes the ganja from time to time as long as he doesn't lie about it anymore? Because it sounds like he's not going to stop, so you'll have to accept that about him or move on. And only you know what's best for you!

I don't see this as any different to cheating on you. Lying for 2 years is pathetic. I'd move on.

Just talk it out and let him know you feel betrayed, but don't break up.
