I don't understand why yahoo even lets you thumbs in questions. Even if a question is "what is 2+2" (and assuming genuine), you shouldn't rate it. Thumbs up and down is like calling someone asking smart or stupid when in fact questions deserve no rating.
I think most of the questions here that recieve thumbs down are because they challenge religious views and make most of these religious people feel threatened in some way or another. It makes them see that maybe their theology is not perfect and their prophet is not the nicest guy in the world. I think it sucks for them.
I really dont' pay attention though. I laugh at the thumbs down. In the end, why should I care what someone thinks about my question or me? I'm just seeking answers.

I totally agree.
I am an atheist, and somtimes I use Bible verses to answer questions. They usually answer the questions pretty well, but they go against what Christians believe so I get thumbs down. How can that happen? I use their book. Their words and they tell me I am wrong. It dosent make sense. Look, this is what I mean.(the link) Find my answer to that question, you will see whatI mean

When a moron calls you stupid it's a compliment.
Instead of viewing them as a negative, consider them a sign you are making sense.
If you were getting thumbs ups, you should be concerned.
I typically get at least twice as many thumbs downs as thumbs ups and I really do consider it a compliment. If they agreed with me, it would mean I was doing something wrong.

Perhaps you are offending others with your honest, sincere answers. Confine answers to your own religion and you won't step on anyone's toes. Too many people try to answer questions about others' religions.

you must realize that wars are being fought over religion right now and always have been. alot of people believe if you dont think exactly like them you are wrong and going to hell. Just remeber that Jesus taught love not hate.

Several times I have answered the simple question, "What is your religion?" and received several thumbs down for stating my religion.
The thumbs up/down thing is not used as it should be.

Exactly. Thumbs down to anyone you want to. Those that gives a thumbs down, usually don't have solid answer anyhow.

Because they disagree. It happens to both sides. I believe it's not being used as intended, but I can't say it bothers me. Sometimes it's amusing!
