"During Ramadan, Muslims are also expected to put more effort into following the teachings of Islam by refraining from sexual intercourse (during fasting), violence, anger, envy, greed, lust, angry and sarcastic retorts, and gossip."
But during the other 11 months, it's perfectly OK to be violent, angry, envious, greedy, lustful, sarcastic, and gossipy?

Peace be with you,
I beleive you received wrong information. WE are to NEVER have violence, anger, envy, greed, lust, gossip, etc. It is not ok per GOD in the Quran. We are to treat all people like all the Prophets have taught us, to respect each other. Your looking at the media as if they tell you the truth. The bad apples of the Religion give it a bad name. Read the Quran for yourself and you will see all your pre-conceptions are wrong

It's not perfectly o.k. but those who neglected those commands along with other commands (that are for all times not just for Ramadan ) can renew their commitment to Allah (swt) in this holy month and pass it on to the months after. Don't forget that Muslims are judged by their beliefs and actions. Actions confirm your belief. Each deed is either good or bad. The balance will determine whether we go to heaven or hell. So, it doesn't make sense to be good only in Ramadan.
p.s. Happy Ramadan Everyone : D

Absolutely right. As a Muslim, we should act like Muslims 12 months of the year, not just 1. Thats one of the purposes of this month, to instill qualities in us. Usually it lasts for a few weeks after Ramadan... but, alas, we ARE human.
Point taken though.

muslims should put an effort to subistitute bad manners with good ones during days, years, even during their whole life (because they are asked to exceed certain limits and we take sins for such bad manners), in Ramadan the chance is better, we generally have two thing that make us keep on bad behaviors: Shaytan and our souls, but during Ramadan it is a gift from Allah that he prison Shaytan (the big ones), thus we understand in this month if we do a certain bad manner its from our souls, thus we understand where is the error, and as Shaytan is prisoned it is a better chance to get rid of bad manners.
then how you say it is perfectly OK to be violent, angry... etc if we take sins if we make it?!

Dont forget about the fasting. I dont think starving yourself for a whole years is worth it. It would make me more violent. I am not muslim by the way.

Because the fascist extremists have seized control of Islam in the Middle-East. They believe in ends that justify any means. They welcome death and destruction, not only for all of us "infidels" but even for themselves and their children.
