The current pope, Benedict XVI?
I think he is a scholar and fundamentally a good man who has been put in positions that have asked him to be very hard-nosed. He is by all accounts a brilliant academic mind and has conservative tendencies. I think he didn't really want to be elected pope and would have rather gone back to education, but since that wasn't what happened, he is doing the best he can with what he has to offer. I also think that he is very grounded in his opinions and will not back down just because they are unpopular. (His views on relativism and secularism come to mind.)

all popes wear read shoes - to honour the blood shed on the ground by the martyrs. while he's no John Paul 2 - i believe he is sincere and trying to continue the path that JP2 started.

I'm not a big fan of change but I guess there was no choice. He hasn't been there long enough to give a fair assessment. I do think they will try a assassinate him and it's a shame.

i like the pope,
cos the pope smokes dope.

nonses the whole papasy thing is a farce he should wear sack cloth and ashes as repentance for the church particularly the priests that abused children is there any recored of his past
