The word comse from thwe name of the founder Adolf Dassler, commonly known as 'Adi', so Adi and Das became Adidas. It is pronounced A di das NOT A dee das.

Adidas, a company known for providing products of a superb quality. Their athletic duds are both comfortable and stylish. Even though the company started out making soccer and running shoes, they have expanded their line to include every type of athletic shoes, clothing, athletic bags, a fragrance and much more. Adidas has proven to be a wonderful company, the most popular line of shoes in Europe and a company of rising popularity in the United States. This line of coolness and comfort not only helps atheletes... it's so much more!

In the year 1925, the Adidas company was founded by Adolf "Adi" Dassler in the German town of Herzogenaurauch. Dassler strove to make quality athletic products for people in a country that was going through a severe economic peril. The need for athletic shoes in Germany was huge, so Dassler wanted to provide those shoes to the people who really needed them. He named the company after himself (Adi Dassler), and went to work to make the best athletic shoes he possibly could. He managed to start a company that became a worldwide phenomenon.

The Adidas logo has changed over the years. The original logo was the trefold (or flower) logo, with the three points on top. In 1991, with the release of the new Adidas performance gear (a line of more high quality sporting gear and accessories), the company got a new performance logo. That logo is the three stripes that we all know and love today. It is believed that the company always uses the number three (whether it be points or stripes) due to the fact that Adi Dassler has three sons. For that reason Adidas will always have the number three in their logos, no matter what.
