I have a mathmos bubble and think there is a fault with the water resistant seal as there is an actual gap of about 2 millimetres.

Does anyone else have a bubble and if so is the seal an actual seal or does yours have a gap too?

I take it you mean a Lava lamp?Mathmos do a product called the Bubble which you plug into a charger then you can carry it around and it changes colour. All these legitimate lamps are made by Mathmos which is just down the road from me.If you are refering to a Lava lamp yes they should be sealed airtight because the air will contaminate the water and addative in the bottle. The "bubbles" are in fact wax and will harden if air contaminates the water as will strong sunlight and too much variation in temperatures.I have a Lava lamp now but my pevious one didnt work properly because I left it in sunlight.

It may be a air bubble to allow for expansion of the liquid, otherwise the glass would crack?
